It is our job to make sure customers

stay in production, so if a forklift is downand cannot be brought into our serviceshop, were ready to send a service tech-nician to their facility, said GaryFairchild, President and CEO of FairchildEquipment. Not only that, but if the cus-tomer doesnt have a unit to use in placeof the downed equipment, we do offer

rental equipment to make sure they cankeep their operation running smoothly.

Fairchild Equipment, founded by GaryFairchild, originated in 1985 as YaleMaterials Handling Green Bay. On Oct.1, Fairchild Equipment announced that thecompany agreed to acquire the Hystermaterial handling dealership rights fromthe Heyrman family, the owner ofMilwaukee Engineering Equipment (MEE)in southern Wisconsin. That is in addition toacquiring the assets of Schmidt IndustrialTruck, Inc. from the Schmidt family inRacine, and was effective as of July 1.

Today, the company has expandedand has nine facilities designated intothree divisions across the state ofWisconsin and Minnesota and employsover 200 people. Fairchild will continue tosupport and enhance their business oper-ations as a dealer for materials handling, warehouse, construction and agricultureequipment in their respective territories. For more information about FairchildEquipment please visit www.fairchilde-quipment.com.

(NAPSI)-Colder weather does not haveto cast a chill on your energy budget. By win-terizing your home, you can enjoy increasedwarmth and comfort and lower your heatingcosts, which can significantly increase energysavings.

Here are some steps you can take: Caulk, patch or weather-strip any

areas around windows and doors that mightallow cold air in or warm air out. Your fire-place, too, is a source of heat loss, so closethe damper when the fireplace is not in use.

Put storm windows in place. New, insu-lated glass windows can provide importantenergy savings. However, if you cannotafford new windows, consider covering olderwindows with plastic sheeting.

Check insulation in your attic, ceilings, exterior and basement walls, floors andcrawl spaces to see if it meets the levels(measured in R-values) recommended foryour area. It's also wise to insulate waterheaters and pipes to minimize heat loss.

Replace or clean filters in your heatingunit to improve airflow and efficiency.

Schedule an inspection of your systemby a heating professional. Heat pumps and

oil-fired furnaces need annual tune-ups; gas-fired equipment can be serviced every otheryear. Professional technicians are usuallytrained to detect leaks, soot, rust, rot, corrod-ed electrical contacts and frayed wires.

Next, take advantage of a programma-

ble thermostat and set the temperature lowerwhen you're away or s leeping.

Finally, if you need to replace yourhome heating unit, consider a new furnace orheat pump that meets standards for high effi-ciency, measured as annual fuel utilizationefficiency (AFUE) for furnaces and heatingseasonal performance factor (HSPF) for heat

pumps. The higher the AFUE or HSPF, themore efficient the unit and the more likely youare to save energy and money.
