When your born, your brain is unassembled.

Your brain is very agile.
Mental Models allow a person to predict the
results of their actions
Our mental models are…
• Usually invisible
• Fundamentally flawed
• The source of made up data
You can’t believe everything you think!
Things aren’t always as they seem.
Mental Models include what a person thinks is
true, not necessarily what is actually true.
I have zero brothers.
I have zero sisters.
I have zero pets.
I like Star Wars.

Our mental models or assumptions are
behind everything we say and do!
Mental models affect our behavior
Mental Model Behavior
“That will never work.” Unsupportive, closed minded
“It won’t change anything.” Don’t look to improve
“We tried this before.” Shut down
“How can we make this
change work?”
Supportive, open minded
Develop a growth mindset
Instead of… Try thinking
I’m not good at this What am I missing?
I give up I’ll use a different strategy
It’s good enough Is this really my best work?
I can’t make this any better I can always improve
This is too hard This may take some time
I made a mistake Mistakes help me to learn
I just can’t do this I am going to train my brain
I’ll never be that smart I will learn how to do this
