MENTORING
www.niba.com.au/mentoring
There comes a stage in every insurance professional’s career when they face challenges and uncertainty.
Did you know that those who have a mentor are five times more likely to be promoted in the workplace?
The NIBA mentoring program has been established to provide insurance professionals with guidance and support as their careers evolve.
The program now runs in all Australian state capitals and is open to professionals at all stages of their careers.
Join us as a mentor and give back to the next generation, or as a mentee to learn from your mentor’s experience.
“I have only positive things to say about the NIBA mentoring program. My mentor and I got along great! It was also really helpful to network with people outside my usual circle and get their insights into the insurance world. I’ve been recommending the program to my colleagues and contacts as I found the short 12 weeks to be entirely invaluable.”
Mentees Who are we looking for?
Driven young brokers, underwriters and insurers who want to take responsibility for their own learning and development, be open to different perspectives, take on the challenges and
tasks set as part of the program, and be able to accept appropriate feedback and coaching. This is not about technical learning. It’s about broadening your professional and personal perspective.

About the programNIBA’s mentoring program is open to brokers, insurers and associated practitioners across the insurance sector.
Since its introduction in 2008, the program has transformed the careers of hundreds of young professionals.
For mentees, it offers a wealth of learning experiences and networking opportunities. Mentors, meanwhile, get the chance to influence the next generation.
If you have extensive
insurance experience, or are a committed young professional with ambitions of being a future industry leader, we invite you to participate in this exceptional opportunity.
The program runs over 12 weeks and participants exchange knowledge and work towards achieving goals specified by the mentee. With three formal workshops and weekly catch-ups, participants often state that they have had a career-changing experience.

Mentors Who are we looking for?
Insurance professionals with a broad range of life and work experiences, a strong understanding of our industry’s issues and a desire to share that knowledge with the next generation.
“The program gave me the opportunity to mentor young, enthusiastic and driven insurance professionals who will take this industry forward in exciting new ways. Personally I feel a great sense of duty to give back to an industry that has done so much for me – so the opportunity to help young people develop, challenge their ideas and gain clarity of their thoughts on the future, was very satisfying.”
