I have really enjoyed hearing of the wonderful times our children have had over the holidays and it was great to see so many excited faces, keen to return to school this week. We all look forward to another great year at MEPS, supporting each child in continuing their learning journey. Mobile Phones As communicated last year, the Minister for Education, the Hon. James Merlino has banned the use of mobile phones in all schools as of this year. As per the Department policy, students who bring their mobile phones to school will need to hand them to their classroom teacher so they can be secured throughout the day. A copy of the Mobile Phone Policy can found on our school’s website. Assistant Principal’s Report

Welcome back everyone. The children look so happy and excited to be back at school, mixing with their friends, meeting their teacher and ready to learn in their classrooms. Thanks for all you have done at home to make sure they are ready for school this week. Also thanks for coming on Book Collection Day to pay the Parent Contributions and to pick up the books and supplies for the children.

Our Preps started school today and have an early finish, which is a good thing considering the couple of hot days we have for the start of school.

Our wonderful specialist program begins tomorrow for the Preps and Grades 2S, 2U, 2M and 3MB. All the children will be going to specialists next week.

In Week 3, we have our Meet the Teacher meetings on Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th February after school. Each meeting goes for 10 minutes and there will be more information coming out soon. Please make sure that you are registered with the Flexibuzz app so you receive all these reminders and information.

ADVANCE NOTICE: The school photo day is on Tuesday, 18th February. This year we are using a different photography company. They will be taking the family photos from 8:00am onwards, so you will be able to bring your children before school to have their family shot taken. If you can’t make it before school the photographers will take the family photo later in the day. Our newsletter will be available online every Thursday on our website. Please be in the habit of reading it every week as the information is vital for ensuring your child/ren are prepared for school every week. Tip To encourage your child/ren to discuss their day when you meet them after school, try this conversation starter: “How did somebody help you this week?” Have a great weekend and a great week ahead at MEPS.
