Wet spring lessensdrought level

At some high-elevation locations in theInterior, the snowmelt has been delayed by2-3 weeks as a result of the cool Mayweather. This delay is prolonging thesnowmelt period into mid- and late June.This and widespread & above-normal rain-fall last month has shifted many water-sheds in the Southern Interior Okanagan, Nicola, Kettle, Similkameen,West & East Kootenays from DroughtLevel 3 (very dry) to Drought Level 2 (dry).This, of course, alleviates some of the water

supply concerns for the coming summer.

Mary MorozThe Province reported last week that

former Merritt resident Mary Morozturned 108 on May 29, 2010, and may bethe oldest person living in the province.

Former Merritt hairdresser WilmaVan Dyk has known Mary for over 40years. Wilma used to do Marys hair,and remembers her as fun & lively even at 80 years old. I think just abouteveryone in Merritt knew her, Van Dyksaid. She was just that kind of person.

Mary had 3 husbands in total and has6 children, several grandchildren andgreat-grandchildren, and a few great-great-grand kids. She lived on her ownuntil she was in her 90s, and currently
