Public collections

• Option to designate collection as open to the public or keep restricted

• Can provide public access to entire object in the collection (metadata + associated files)

• Or can provide public access to view metadata while restricting associated files

There’s an option for “guest” login


Lists the permissions you have available to content in each collection—options are• Read• Download• Write

Shows your login status


Choosing one of the collections brings you to the list of objects


• View key citation metadata, • Download individual versions• ... or download all versions


Persistent links

• Persistent URLs to object landing pages using EZID– n2t.net/object-ID

• Persistent URLs to version landing page:– merritt.cdlib.org/m/object-ID/version

• Persistent URLs to file components– merritt.cdlib.org/d/object-ID/version/filename.ext

• Optimized for public collections

Integration with XTF

• Working with UCSF DataShare• Process:– Retrieve Atom feed for collection– Find and retrieve metadata records– Store metadata locally– Index using XTF

• Similar process should work for other integrations, eg Blacklight/Solr

Support for Dublin Core records

• Now possible to submit Dublin Core XML file instead of ERC metadata– Only simple/unqualified DC– Use filename: “mrt-dc.xml”

Click-through license

• Possible to add a data user agreement (DUA) at the collection level

• Every time someone tries to download an object from the collection, they would first be presented with the DUA

• Copies sent to CDL, to data owner, and to enduser

• You no longer need to specify the type of submission (file, container, manifest)

• Just submit the file, and we’ll do the rest!
