MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR 2021

Message from the President

Hello friends one and all,After a long period of time in lockdown, we managed to reopen theMaltese Cultural Centre in Albion.

Our members started to come back on Thursday nights to spend some quality time with their friends and have a drink and something to eat.

Everyone seems to be pleased with the new look of Grand Masters Hall. They can’t believe the transformation of the hall with golden frames and chandeliers.

I like to thank everyone for your appreciation of the work that the

Committee has carried over the month of the lockdown. This year was a difficult year for many reasons but mainly it was a difficult year because we couldn’t meet at the Centre.

Now we can pray that the pandemic will disappear for good, so we can enjoy our Centre.

Now we are open again and we had a lovely Christmas Party.

Hello members and friends,

It's been quite a few months since we last met at the centre andI missed the company of being together enjoying each other'scompany. But as a small group of us took on the task ofrefurbishing the main hall the selected decorations that wehave installed makes the place fit for a king.

We have enjoyed both the work and the company which gaveus a break from the pandemic as the 5km and 25 km distancewe were allowed to travel were lifted as we look forward formore restrictions to be lifted and get together once again onThursday nights.

During this period of isolation, I took time to build a third model ship the "Surriento" ( with the help of our vice president Joe Spiteri of course ) a replica of the one I migrated to Australia on in April 1956.

I enjoy this hobby, it keeps my mind ticking and look for new ideas. Now it's time to celebrate and get together as the festive seasion is fast approaching and say good bye to 2020 and start fresh in the new year 2021.

I would like to take this opportunity in this instant to wish you all a joyful time for Christmas and the very best for a better and covid free new year. Pius

The Maltese Bizzilla Gr ou p

The Maltese Bizzilla Groupstarted at the MalteseCommunity Centre in Albionabout five years ago.

We are a group of around 20ladies who meet everyThursday evening for twoand a half hours. Our teacher,Mary Galea, is a wonderfuland talented lady who isalways ready to lead andencourage us while helpingus along the way. The bestabout it all is that we alwayswork at our own pace.

Although Bizzilla is the maininterest of the evening, wealso enjoy reminiscing andsharing our past experiencesof back home in Malta andGozo. We share stories,recipes, jokes, Maltesesingalongs and alsoexperiences of our village

Festas back home. We are all so proud of our heritage.

Although most of us can speak Maltese well, we have some younger ladies who are 2nd and 3rdgeneration Maltese and who find it a bit harder to speak the language. All of us, ‘older’ ladies do ourbest to help them understand both the Maltese language and its culture.We all look forward to these wonderful evenings together.

We are now all looking forward to next year when we can start meeting again, as this last nine months,like everything else, our Bizzilla evenings came to a halt. However we still kept in touch through ourBizzilla Facebook Group. It was a pleasure to see the amazing work that everyone was producing.

We are grateful to the Maltese Cultural Centre who make it easier for us to keep this Bizzilla groupgoing.
