Historical Machinery Club, Tas, Inc.Chairman’s Report, 2015-2016.An unforgettable year we have had. The year has passed so quickly, we don’t seem to have time to keep up. Two very successful bus trips to the East Coast areas of Tassie. Totally enjoyed by all who travelled. Scenery and places of interest visited, proves Tassie has it all. Many thanks must go to the people connected with the organising of these events.Sadly, this year saw the passing of 3 members, Graeme Odgers, Smithton, Maureen Smith, Ulverstone, lastly, our beloved treasurer Ivan Best. While the passing brings much sadness for all, especially the families involved. With much sympathy to all concerned, we have great memories of these much valued members.Our year has seen the most successful event held at Sassafras, with our now famous “Heritage Farming Weekend” ever. Many thanks to all who helped in any way to achieve this great result. Comments made earlier, saying too soon after a National rally, getting sponsorship etc, but we proved the critics who were doubting our abilities to achieve this, by having the best event yet. The most rewarding part, was monies after costs etc, were donated to 2 very worthy recipients, to help in some way, give them and families a helping hand to improve their lives. This is the first time we have done this and I am sure, gives us the satisfaction we are not wasting our time, very rewarding to see the smiles on their faces, very emotional as well. We must thank all the Perry Families, who gave their time, their farm to allow this now permanent event on our calendars, to take place. I say bring on the next one, 2018.The next National rally, is well in progress, to be held in Hamilton, Vic. About 3 hours drive from Melb. We may consider a bus trip to coincide with this, any interested people, please let us know. It will be held at a top venue, good accommodation, but we need to arrange as early as possible.Now as this year is almost over, I want to thank sincerely, all

Many thanks to our ladies, always handling our suppers at club meetings, although most members bring a plate, {not empty plates}, which we all enjoy.Finally, thanks to all for your support to me as chairman, to Phil, as our secretary, belated thanks to Ivan, for an the years he has handled, admirably, our finances. Thanks to Alan, for stepping into this position.To the incoming Committee, I wish you all the success for our future “Hobbying” and assure you of my help and support from here on in.

Vintage Car Rally These photos taken at Anzac park, 2nd November 2016. The rally was for Vintage cars pre 1919, and there were approximately 75 cars wending their way around Central Coast area for a week.At 8pm that evening there was a Gas Light Parade by some of the vehicles down reibey St which was amazing, and one could visualise the olden days of such beautiful cars on our roads.Many of the owners dressed in costumes of those days, which added to the atmosphere, reibey St was lined with onlookers, despite the very low temperatures.

Bracknell Primary School ReunionOn Saturday 22nd October we travelled up to Bracknell for their reunion. The country school looked so nice, neatly painted and well looked after playground and equipment. The school overlooks lovely green pastures and a dam with a small amount of snow on the day. Luckily we were all prepared for the weather.There were many varieties of activities throughout the day, even the Parliamentarians. The Tractor Trek group called in for a visit from the North West Coast. One of the competitions was student and Parliamentarians throwing raw eggs to each other, luckily no-one had egg over their clothes, only on the ground. The children certainly used their imagination making animals and people out of fruit and vegetables.Members attending were Joan & Kelvin Fielding, Karyn & Derryl Haines & Zac, Heather & Pat Harris, Nigel Boyd, Graeme Howard, Neil Broomhall, robin Daking, Steve & Christine Scott, Deborah & Wayne Wood.There was a nice array of exhibits from the club - tractors, cross cut saw, old washing machine, wood heater, an Irish chain saw, punishment chair, trains & carriages and memorabilia. One member was heard to say that the “Punishment Chair” would be an ideal piece of equipment for all Politicians!! (to use) The school children were impressed with the chair. A lovely day had by all.

The NHMA Mission Statement. The NHMA Inc is an Association of enthusiasts from across Australia, formed in 1987 by a small band of clubs with similar interests that provides a fellowship with common interest of collecting, restoring, displaying of Heritage Farm Machinery, Tractors, Vehicles and Associated Memorabilia.The necessity of a working handbook for NHMA member clubs has grown over the past years. The issues of insurance, safety matters, club record keeping have and will continue to become more complex. It is also becoming more difficult for clubs to elect officers who are willing to take on these positions that are vital to the clubs future. The guideline handbook is now updated regularly, to keep up with latest developments. The main theme is on SAFETY FIrST AT ALL TIMES. Taken from the NHMA current guidelines. Your President, Secretary and Treasurer have the current handbook. Please ask if you would like to check on an issue.
