With Christmas on the horizon, all the activities in the Children’s Ministry are focused on bringing the story of the birth of Christ, our Emmanuel, to life for our children. Our Children’s Christmas party is Dec. 1 from 5 to 8 pm. We will enjoy pizza, a movie, Christmas cookie decorating, crafts and games together. I can’t wait! This is a night off for the parents, so bring the kids and then go have a date night! It is our Christ- mas gift to you! I must have an RSVP from you by Monday, November 26, 2018 if your child(ren) will be attending so that I have adequate resources for everyone. I hope we will see all of your children there for a fun night of Christmas fellowship! It is so easy in the hustle and bustle of our daily lives to lose sight of what Christmas is all about. I hope that you will spend some quality time during the month of December helping your children to rediscover the amazing story of the birth of Christ. Please don’t get so busy that Sunday school and church become an occasional thing. Christmas gifts, decorations, parties, cookies and candy all fade away - but helping our children learn about Jesus and how He wants to be their friend is timeless. Help them to remember that in a world that places so much importance on temporary things, JESUS is forever! In addition to spending time at Sunday school and church during this wonderful time of the year, I hope you will consider spending some devotional time in the Gospel of Luke on your December evenings. As Linus reminds us: “In those days a decree went out from Emperor Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration and was taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. All went to their own towns to be registered. Joseph also went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was descended from the house and lineage of David. He went to be registered with Mary, to whom he was engaged and who was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. In that region there were shepherds living in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for see—I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people; to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find the child wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom he favors!” When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go now to Bethlehem and see this thing that has taken place, which the Lord has made known to us.” So they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the child lying in the manger. When they saw this, they made known what had been told them about this child; and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds told them. But Mary treasured all these words and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.” Luke 2:1-20 Remember to keep the main thing, the main thing! Love, Mrs. Shannon

Sunday school (9:45 hour)

In Sunday school this month, we will be learning about

the birth of Jesus through a curriculum on “Christmas

Carols!” On Dec. 2, we will learn that because Jesus

came to earth we can have joy, through the carol “Joy to

the World.” On the 9th, we will learn about the birth of

Jesus, our Prince of Peace, through “Away in a Manger.”

On the 16th, we will learn that we can give our best to

Jesus through “The Twelve Days of Christmas.” Then on

the 23rd, we will learn that the story of Jesus is meant to

be shared through “O Come All Ye Faithful.” I think the

children will love the lessons learned through these Christmas

Carols! We have some wonderful Christmas crafts planned to

go with our lessons!

Children’s Church (11:00 hour)

In Children’s Church, we will encounter the

Christmas story with a curriculum on “Finding

Christmas.” I think we will have great fun learn-

ing about how Jesus came to be our Savior

through the story of the angel visiting Mary and

Angel fish on Dec. 2; how God wants us to lead

us to Jesus through the story of the Magi and

Starfish on the 9th; what we can do to help others

in need through the fish on the 16th, and how God

wants us to pray for our friends that need to hear about

Jesus on the 23rd with Sea Shells. Instead of Finding

Nemo, we will be Finding Christmas!

FUNdamentals

(Wednesdays 6:00 pm)

Because of our abbreviated Wednesday night

schedule in December, FUNdamentals will only

be meeting on Dec. 5. We will be enjoying a

lesson on “Christmas Wish List” that night. In

this lesson, the kids will be making a Christmas

Wish-Fulfilled List where instead of listing things

they want, they will list out things they have

that they can thank God for. We will be looking

at Isaiah 9:6-7 for the prophecy, and Matthew

2:12 for the birth of Jesus. We will also be

having a special Christmas game, so don’t miss

this special FUNdamentals!
