Your Support, Our Motivation Yet another year comes to end and we look forward to sustained co-operation extended by all of you, our well wishers and donors, who are a part of this mission known as MESCO. By the grace of the Almighty and sustained help from all our donors we constantly move ahead; it is His will that in some year if one of our large donors is unable to continue at the same pace as the previous year, we face some difficulty but some other donor increases his contribution or a few new donors get added. However, the demand keeps increasing and we do not know how to cope, and to be fair, have been drawing lots for selecting the beneficiaries. We continue to write proposals to funders and are also referred to funding agencies and individuals (by our well wishers), whom we approach, with the hope of covering a few more persons seeking help. Through the medium of this issue of MESCO News, we would like to dedicate this year to two efforts: Increasing our Old Newspaper Collection through referrals provided by our existing donors. At the present time we are collecting newspapers mostly (almost 98%) from residences visiting over 2800 houses; we do have a few colleges, residential quarters of a bank, a couple of hotels and a few offices. I am sure if each one of our donors gave us 1-2 new contacts, we could target almost 100% increase, without much effort and in less than a year's time. We need to give it a serious try and probably much before the year is over, we will have done it. Payroll giving has been found to be a very convenient and effective way of giving to causes. It is usually done by corporates, where the company as a whole decides to contribute for a particular cause, where the employee gives written instruction that an 'x' amount or a certain percentage of his/her salary be deducted and credited to a certain Charity’s Bank Account. We suggest to all our well-wishers who would like to contribute to any of our schemes which is close to their hearts, or contribute to the Corpus; in this type of monthly contribution; could opt for one of three types of options for convenience; you could agree to give : Rs.100 p.m. (option A) Rs.500 p.m. (option B) or could be Rs.1,250 per month (option C) The detailed arrangement could be worked out; you could contact Ms. Sneha on 24440006. MESCO's CEO We have a CEO in place after over a year, Mr. Hussain Panjwani took charge from 1st February, 2013. He comes with experience of both MNCs and the NGO sector and we pray that he is able to take MESCO to new heights. Newspaper Collection Unit We launched a new Newspaper Collection Unit in Mumbra, Kausa from 1st March 2013; this will also extend into Navi Mumbai, Kalwa and Thane. We request all our donors to pass on addresses of their EDITORIAL relatives and friends from these areas, who may wish to strengthen MESCO's hands and improve our coverage of the have-nots. Newspapers Donation: Our Newspaper collection Team has collected 58,386 Kgs. of Newspapers, Books, Magazines etc., which has brought in Rs.5.81 lacs during this quarter.
