1 2012-2013 Annual History Report As you know, my term as President has ended. I hope that during my term I made a positive impact on the Montgomery Chapter of AGA. Thank you for the opportunity to lead and for your patience as I grew in my position. This was definitely one experience I will not forget! My journey in leading the Chapter was not accomplished alone. I was accompanied by a team of dynamic individuals, both elected and appointed, who shared in our suc- cesses and failures. Each of these individuals brought their individual talent, personality and discipline to the table – enabling me to complete and execute a successful year of performance and leadership. I can look back on my term with appreciation and satisfaction, knowing that we kept our focus on AGA’s core values: Service, Accountability, Integrity, and Leadership. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Chapter executive committee (CEC) for their hard work and dedication in serving with me. In particular, I would like to thank President-Elect Margie Toney, AGA Regional Vice President, Pamela Hill and Secretaries Sandra Steel and Shelia Hatcher for their support and encouragement during my term. I would be remiss if I did not recognize the 2012-2013 committee members. There are not enough words to express my thanks and appreciation to these great leaders. Without their passion and undying commitment in devoting many hours of volunteer service, we would not have begun this journey of transformation or achieved any of our goals. Embracing change is difficult and these volunteers never lost sight of the Chapter’s strategic direction even when our road to success be- came bumpy or was detoured. Special thanks go out to our sponsors. But most importantly, my thanks go out to you, the members, for all your support during my term as your Chapter president. Without you, the Chapter would not exist. It has been my pleasure to have served you. Some notable highlights of my term were Evelyn Brown, AGA National President, attended our fall confer- ence; we celebrated the 25 th anniversary of our Chapter having a Professional Development Conference; we recognized all past presidents at the November 2012 PDC; the spring seminar was moved to a new venue and was scheduled as a full day for the first time. This report will highlight other events that happened during the program year 2012-13. In closing, I ask you to continue to pledge your support to our Chapter and its activities. I leave with great confidence knowing that our Chapter is capable of overcoming any hurdles that will arise. Together we will succeed! “Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” (Anonymous). The Chapter is truly blessed with such a terrific team. Pamela D. AGA's Citizen-Centric Government Reporting Initiative is intended to foster innovative means of

communication between governments and their citizenry. AGA believes that government financial

information should be provided to citizens in forms that are clear and understandable, updated

regularly and often, delivered to all, easy to locate, honest in breadth and technically accurate in

detail. In fact, as the owners of government, citizens have a right to this information. AGA's Citizen-

Centric Reports detail government finances in a visually appealing, clear and understandable four-

page document. AGA believes that these reports will make governments more accountable to their

citizens, and will help Americans become better educated and better able to participate in govern-

ment activities.
