The right analyzer for any application

Foods, chemical, pharmaceutical products, building materials or animal feed – you name it, the moisture or content has a decisive impact on price, processability andquality, ranging from raw materials to finalproducts. Determining this moisture contentis one of the most common analyses in prod-uct development and in the manufacturingprocess. Here, the most diverse requirementson speed and resolution of the values mea-sured or on the operating design of the mois-ture analyzers must also be considered in all cases. As a leading provider of moistureanalysis equipment, Sartorius is thoroughlyfamiliar with the needs of its customers andthus offers a wide range of equipment that is continuously being enhanced.

Infrared drying – fast and preciseA fast alternative to the classic oven dryingmethod, infrared dryers from the Sartoriusseries of moisture analyzers are beingincreasingly used. These analyzers are compactand designed for routine operation in produc-tion and in applications involving incominginspection. They feature the resolution of ananalytical balance, and are ideal for researchand development. Sartorius offers a customsolution for nearly any requirements. A wideselection of infrared heat sources, such as ametal tube, a halogen lamp, a CQR quartzglass heater and a ceramic heating element, enable these moisture analyzers to be optimal-ly adapted to the intended application.

Differential weighingIf the oven drying method is absolutely essen-tial, the differential weighing program of theLA Reference series of balances from Sarto-rius efficiently manages large volumes of dataand automatically calculates the differencesbetween the tare weight, initial sampleweight and backweights.

The affordable, user-friendly MA35 is thenew basic model in the moisture analyzerseries from Sartorius. It is ideal for dailyroutines such as repetitive QC monitoringof samples both for in-process control andincoming goods inspection. The MA35 issimple to use with easy to understandinstructions and options without compromising its flexibility or measurement accuracy.

Error-Free Automatic End Point Deter-mination-No need for programmingEnd-point determination is fullyautomatic. Therefore, it is not necessaryto program a shutoff parameter. TheMA35 continuously monitors the dryingprocess and stops the measurement assoon as the sample has reached a constantweight – i.e., when no more weight losscan be detected despite heating. A built-inweighing system provides the measure-

ment accuracy required for this with 1-mgresolution that is optimized for use in hightemperature ranges. For sample heating, the MA35 is equipped with two powerfulmetal tubular-shaped heating elements, providing 360 watts of power.

Meets HACCP Strict GuidelinesThe MA35's metal heating element and itsmetal side panels (Model MA35M-000115V2) can be used in accordance withthe strict guidelines of the FDA and HACCPin cases where glass is prohibited.

Functional Icon-Guided DisplayThe concise display shows allimportant information at a singleglance. Easy-to-understand icons guideyou in three steps from taring the samplepan to starting the measurement. TheMA35 has done away with the regular Program Selection menu, opting instead

for a limited number of drying routinesthat can be saved in the non-volatilememory. All important operating parameters can be accessed and changedin seconds, giving the user more flexibilitysaving both time and money.

Options for GLP DocumentationThe optional printer, YDP03-0CE,enables you to print analysisresults on a short report to saveon paper usage. For comprehensive documentation (GLP), the user can alsoprint out the sample analysis results aswell as the data for the weighing systemand temperature calibration.

Sartorius MA150The compact class featuring maximum performance with minimum space requirements

For routine operationA rugged design with low space requirementsand easy operation are the major features ofthese analyzers. Fully automatic drying of asample until a constant weight is reachedeliminates the need for programming an end-point shutoff parameter. Three drying rou-tines can be saved to give you the flexibilityyou need when the moisture content of addi-tional, “out-of-the-ordinary” samples ofmaterial has to be measured.

Customizable and fastSartorius offers you a choice of two differentmoisture analyzers that cover diverse require-ments on moisture measurements. Whicheverheat source you opt for, both analyzers deliverresults within just minutes. For temperature-sensitive samples, a ceramic heating elementensures gentle heating over the entire surface. The other choice, a CQR quartz-glass heater, optimizes the analysis time even further, which is already ultrafast for the analyzer featuring the ceramic heater.

Application-specific solutionsPractical accessories round off the entire line-up of Sartorius moisture analyzers. Theseinclude, for instance, an in-use dust cover thatis included with the standard equipment sup-plied and a special version of the moistureanalyzer without openly accessible glass com-ponents in compliance with the stringent FDAand HACCP requirements that ban the use of glass in production.

Sartorius|MA100Analytical precision, combined with flexibility and dynamics

As accurate as an analytical balanceThe MA100 is the only infrared dryer in theworld that features a built-in weighing systemwith 0.1-mg resolution. A motorized heatingunit moves over the sample to open or closethe sample chamber. This reduces interferingeffects when a sample is placed on the pan ora measurement is started. The advanceddesign enables the MA100 to achieve a meas-uring accuracy well beyond that provided byconventional infrared dryers.

A clean solutionDid you accidentally spill a sample? Are therespatters of grease inside the sample chamber? No problem with the MA 100. The Plug & Dry®

feature enables you to easily slide out thecover with the heater for thorough cleaning, without the risk of cleaning agent enteringthe inside of the housing.

Automatic adaptation to reference values“Swift Parameter Adjustment to a given Ref-erence Method” This function enables theoperating parameters of MA100 to be adapt-ed to the results of an available referencemethod and to be saved as a drying routine.Optimization of operating parameters doesn’t get any faster than this.

Flexible and modularThe Sartorius MA100 analyzers give you achoice of three different infrared heat sources:a halogen lamp for standard applications, aceramic heating element for gentle heating oftemperature-sensitive samples and a CQRquartz glass heater. The CQR combines the fastdrying capability of a halogen lamp with thegentle heating capability of a ceramic heaterfor drying samples evenly over their entire sur-face. A printer that can be optionally integrat-ed into the housing eliminates the tangle ofcables so typical of an external printer, andhelps tidy up your work area.
