WHAT IS METAMORPHISM?• “meta” = change; “morph” = shape

• Change of one rock type into another– Heat and (usually) pressure

• Parent rock– Rock that gets metamorphosed into something else

– ANY rock type can be a parent rock, including a metamorphic rock
