Project Information
Project summary:This proposal is for a memorial for the 9 people who died in the Red Line Metrorail accident in 2009. This incidentoccurred in close proximity to this park. The land was transferred from the National Park Service to the District ofColumbia earlier this year to allow for this memorial to be built. It is directly adjacent to the Blair Road CommunityGardens. The approximately 14,000 square foot memorial consists of some trees and shrubs, hardscape, a memorialremembrance wall, nine sculptures, seven benches, two interpretive signs, and a park identification signage. A new 4foot high green fence will separate the memorial from the community gardens.
