METRO MISSIONS NOVEMBER 2015 MISSIONS PRAYER AND PRAISE CALENDAR FIRST BAPTIST DALLAS – REACH 360 Today is the first day to return your REACH 360 meal bags. Reach 360 stations will be in the Criswell Center Lobby, Skywalk and on the Concourse in the Worship Center. Please remember to return your filled bags on Sunday, November 1 & 8. Be sure you have signed up to help deliver the meal bags on November 14th! Please contact the Mission’s department if you have any questions - Missions@firstdallas.org PASTORS THREATENED AFTER NEPAL PASSES NEW CONSTITUTION Nepal’s Constituent Assembly voted to keep Nepal a secular nation. Police asked Pastor C, the pastor of the largest church in the area, to stay home while they keep guard over his house and the church. Please pray for: •God’s peace to settle upon the people of Nepal. •Safety for Pastor C, his family and the believers. •Wisdom and discernment for Christian leaders in Nepal. TEAM - ROB & KARINA D’ANDREA – ITALY Please pray for the D’Andrea family to be sent out into the harvest of Europe soon. Pray for Italians to come to faith in the living God, Jesus Christ. Pray for peace and endurance during their second language learning, the weeks will be demanding on their whole family. PATHWAY CHURCH – PASTOR BOBBY HIGGINBOTHAM Pray for our Intentional Communities to grow strong and be ready to reproduce by the end of the year. Pray specifically for Greg, Geri, Leslie, Khylee and Chandra to place their trust in Jesus! Pray for those in our church who have fallen into sin to fall into the grace of Jesus and repent! INTERNATIONAL MISSION BOARD (IMB) Ask the Father to break down the barriers to the Gospel that keep the people in darkness and to allow Truth to shine brightly in the darkest corners of the world. SILENT FRIENDS CHAPEL Join with the members of SFC as they pray for God’s guidance in the search for the new pastor. Pray for the man that God is preparing to be the leader of SFC. INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER FOR THE PERSECUTED CHURCH Pray for those who suffer for their faith. Prayer is a powerful way we can stand by fellow believers who are in prison or being persecuted in other ways for their stand for Jesus Christ. They are partnering with a children’s shelter in which they volunteer their time and resources. They are also asking God to raise up foster care families and adoptive families for the “least of these” in their community. Father, make our hearts more like Yours. May we be fathers to the fatherless, and defenders to the defenseless. EPIC LIFE CHURCH – PASTOR KEITH CARPENTER Please pray for the many lost people in North Seattle. Our vision is for North Seattle to be transformed by finding an epic life in Jesus Christ. INTERNATIONAL MISSION BOARD (IMB) – OUTREACH - DEAF PEOPLE FOR JESUS CHRIST Pray that Deaf believers learn and do story crafting to put Bible stories into their native sign language so they may share Jesus. Deaf believers will help work on videos and distribute them to Deaf people groups. ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL) Pray for our ESL ministry that meets on Thursdays, 5th floor of the Criswell Center, 10-11:30am. FBD – REACH 360 MEAL BAG DELIVERY DAY 1500 bags will be delivered in the communities near three of our local churches: El Buen Pastor, El Calvario and Lake June Baptist Church. Pray for divine appointments and hearts that are prepared to hear the Gospel and accept the saving grace of our Lord. KEYSTONE BAPTIST CHURCH - PASTOR DAMON HALLIDAY Pray for Pastor Halliday and the members of Keystone BC as they minister and witness to the large number of children that live in the neighborhoods surrounding both the North and South church locations. Pray that Keystone will be a light in the darkness for the children there. IMB MISSIONARIES – ERIC AND CHRISTY Please pray for the children that attended a kid’s Saturday morning follow up event for the English/German Kid’s Camp last summer. The focus was on trusting God and that He is near to those who call on Him. Pray that the children who are Christians will continue to go to God any time and those who don’t know Jesus will be drawn to Him. Pray that the Lord of the Harvest will send workers to Austria. INTERNATIONAL MISSION BOARD (IMB) - SOUTH ASIAN UNENGAGED PEOPLES There are an estimated 53,500 Pakistanis living in Spain. Pray that Spanish believers will have a vision to reach out to the large Pakistani community in their midst. Pray that Pakistani people living in Spain will come to faith in Jesus and be a bridge for the Gospel to spread to family and friends who still live in Pakistan. THE PATHWAY – PASTOR BOBBY HIGGINBOTHAM What’s an Intentional Community? An Intentional Community is a group of ordinary people who are daily trying their best to intentionally love God, one another, and their city. Each IC gathers weekly to study scripture, pray, ask hard questions, and plan ways to tangibly love Tacoma! Pray that hearts will be open and that many will come to faith in Christ as their Lord and Savior. INTERNATIONAL MISSION BOARD (IMB) – NORTHERN YEMENI ARABS OF YEMEN (YEH-MUH-NEE) As the Yemenis people live in the uncertainty of what will become of their country, please pray for new openings for the Gospel to reach them. Pray that the Lord will use these days to lavishly blanket the country with the Gospel. KEYSTONE BAPTIST CHURCH – PASTOR DAMON HALLIDAY Keystone Agape Men – Men Who Love God – Join us each Saturday morning at 6am. INTERNATIONAL MISSION BOARD - TRANSITIONS Please pray for the IMB and the IMB missionaries during this time of transition. Pray for the missionaries as they consider the voluntary retirement incentive (VRI) packages. A statement from an IMB team member said that the greatest need is prayer: “We trust that our churches, above all else, will be praying for these individuals and their stateside families who will be welcoming them.” IGLESIA BAUTISTA COMUNIDAD HISPANA – PASTOR PORFIRIO ABAD Pray for Pastor Porfirio and his congregation as they go out into the community surrounding Criswell College bringing the love of Christ to the unreached people in the neighborhoods and inviting them to attend church. JAPANESE MISSION CHURCH OF DALLAS – PASTOR FUTOSHI SHINGAKI BIBLE STUDY IN AUSTIN - On the 1st Saturday of every month, a Bible Study Meeting for Japanese people is held by the Japanese Christian Fellowship of Austin. The book of James tells us “the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much”. (James 5:16b). INTERNATIONAL MISSION BOARD - THAILAND For several years Oscar* faithfully served the Lord in the red-light district, an area known for prostitution. He taught English at a massage parlor and shared the gospel as he had opportunity. One day a man at a massage parlor expressed interest in the Gospel. He was so interested he asked Oscar to go with him to his village and tell others about the Gospel. Oscar and a friend did as he asked, and they met others also interested in the Gospel. One woman especially showed an interest and Oscar soon befriended the woman. The woman also invited two of her friends to come and listen to the Bible stories Oscar shared. Pray that these women and others in the village will want to follow Jesus. Pray that Oscar and others serving in the red-light district will have opportunities to boldly share about the love of Jesus. REACH 360 – MISSION FOLLOW UPS Please pray for EL Buen Pastor, El Calvario and Lake June Baptist Church as they follow up on the contacts and professions of faith that were made during the Reach 360 outreach. They were able to deliver over 1500 Thanksgiving bags to needy families in the neighborhood, present the Gospel, and invite them to visit their church.
