    Construction of the AirportLink, Metrorail's 2.4 m ileextension to the Miami Intermodal Center, serving MiamiInternational Airport, is running on time and on schedule.

    New signage is currently being installedat Metrorail stations reflecting theincorporation of the future Orange Lineand Miami International Airport Station.Only the Green Line portion of thealignment indicated on the new maps iscurrently in service.

    WELCOME TO METRORAIL

    This 22-station rapid transit system runs from the DadelandSouth Station in Kendall to the Palmetto Station in Medley,connecting South Miami, Coral Gables, downtown Miami, CivicCenter, Allapattah, Brownsville, Liberty City and Hialeah.

    Transfer to Metromover at Brickell and Government Centerstations to get around downtown Miami and the Brickell andOmni areas.

    Transfer to Metrobus at the Dadeland South Station andtravel south all the way to Florida City via the South Miami-Dade Busway.

    Take the Dade-Monroe Express (Route 301) from Florida Cityto Marathon in the Florida Keys.

    Take the Dade-Broward 95 Express commuter service fromdowntown Miami to Broward County, or transfer to Tri-Rail withyour EASY Card to travel as far north as Palm Beach County.

    HOURS OF OPERATION

    Metrorail runs from 5 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week.

    Metrobus Route 500 (Midnight Owl) runs from about12:30 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. and serves bus stops at or nearMetrorail stations between the Dadeland South and

    Government Center stations.

    Pay the one-day Metrorail parking fee at an EASYCard vending machine before tapping in at thefaregate. Remember your parking space number. It'spainted on the pavement in each space. At the EASY

    Card vending machine, select the "pay for parking"option from the menu on the screen. In addition to the$4 parking fee, the cost of one Metrorail ride will bededucted from your EASY Card or Ticket unless you havea time-based pass or Golden or Patriot Passport.

    You can buy a monthly parking permit at an EASYCard vending machine at any Metrorail station whenpurchasing a 1-Month Pass. Take the printed receipt tothe station security officer to receive your parking permitand hang the permit from your car's rearview mirror forthe duration of the month indicated on the permit. Youalso can obtain your parking permit at the Transit Service

    Center at Government Center, second level, or you mayorder it online and your parking p ermit will be mailed toyou. Keep your transaction confirmation number.

    Metrorail station parking fees may be higher for specialevents and for non-transit patrons. People with disabilitiespark free at Metrorail stations as long as a state-issuedparking permit for people with disabilities is displayed onthe rearview mirror.

    GETTING TO THE PLATFORM

    All rail stations have elevators, escalators and/or stairs.Use the call button to alert station security if you needassistance using the elevator or if there is an emergency onthe platform level.

    Email alerts from MDT, as well as voice announcementsand signs, provide information on the status of elevators atMetrorail stations. When an elevator or escalator is out ofservice, board the train again and ask a security officer atthe next station to arrange for free transportation, which willarrive within 30 minutes after your request is received.

    Most stations have a center platform with tracks on bothsides. However, Metrorails Civic Center, Santa Clara,Brownsville, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Northside, and Tri-Railstations have split platforms with train tracks running through

    the middle. To get to the platform at these six stations, takethe elevator, escalator or stairs to the second level. Once onthe second level, you must locate the elevator, escalator orstairs leading up to the platform of your direction of travel.Listen for announcements or look for signs that indicateSouthbound Dadeland or Northbound Palmetto.

    BOARDING FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

    The tactile tiles alert customers who are blind and visuallyimpaired that they are getting close to the platform edge.For direct access to the reserved wheelchair space, entera train car through the first set of doors. Other passengers

    with disabilities and senior citizens will find seats reservedfor them next to every door.

    CALL BUTTONS

    Every Metrorail car has three call buttons located at thewheelchair space next to the first set of doors and next tothe second and third set of doors. Call buttons may be usedto alert the operator when you need extra time to leavethe train. You may also use the call buttons in case of anemergency.

    BIKE & RIDE ON TRANSIT

    Cyclists who bring their bicycles on Metrorail must obtaina Bike & Ride permit. You must be at least 12 years old toobtain a permit. Security personnel at all Metrorail stationscan issue Bike & Ride permits during operating hours. Aparent or guardian must accompany cyclists under 18 yearsold who apply for a Bike & Ride permit. Stop at the securityofficers booth and show a valid photo ID. Complete and signthe application and give it to the officer. The bike permit isissued immediately. Cyclists must be familiar with bicyclesafety rules.

    Be ready to show your permit anytime at the request of atransit official. Bikes are permitted only in th e rear sectionof the last car of each train. For your safety, bikes are notallowed on station escalators.

    THE SOUTH MIAMI-DADE BUSWAY

    The South Miami-Dade Busway, which runs parallel toU.S. 1, provides exclusive lanes on which buses swiftlyshuttle passengers from as far south as SW 344 Street inFlorida City to the Dadeland South Metrorail station.

    For added convenience, park free at Park & Ride lots locatedalong the Busway at SW 296 Street, SW 244 Street, SW 112

    Avenue, SW 168 Street, and SW 152 Street. Routes serving south Miami-Dade County: 1, 31 (Busway
