Metso’s Wet enD conversion Kit overcomes tradi-tional slurry pump problems such as low hydraulic efficiency, premature component failure, inconsistent performance, ineffective centrifugal seals and difficult maintenance.

The impeller design incoporates partial mixed flow main vanes, reducing inlet shock losses at the suction eye. Hydraulic turbulence and recirculation within the casingand impeller are reduced to yield high efficiencies and longer component life.

adjustment permits closing the impeller on both sides of the casing, with clearances that result in vastly improved performance and longer pump life.

The large impeller diameters operate at slow speed to enhance wear life. The large diameter wear resistant expeller generates a high head and works in conjunction with expelling vanes on the back of the impeller.

This provides a very effective centrifugal seal against positive suction heads without gland leakage. seal perfor-mance improves as running clearance is closed during impeller wear adjustment. The centrifugal seal is a high performance dry shaft seal.

step 1: adjust impeller front clearance: impeller front clearance is achieved by a screw on the bearing cartridge. This enables forward movement of the shaft and impeller assembly to close up the impeller-to-casing suction clearance.

step 2: adjust impeller back clearance: The impeller back clearance and expeller adjustment is made by moving the shaft sealing adaptor ring assembly forward. The whole assembly can be moved in either direction by means of four conve-niently positioned adjustment studs.
