Extent and

distribution

It is distributed on thePacific coast of Mexico, fromsouthern Sonora andsouthwestern Chihuahua toChiapas and continuesthrough Central America. There are small portions atthe southern tip of the BajaCalifornia Peninsula and thenorthern Yucatan Peninsula.Usually found from sea levelup to 1,500 althoughoccasionally it can reach1,900 m in areas of greatdryness.

Characteristics

Also known as deciduous forest, tropical deciduous forest, lowlanddeciduous, subhumids jungles, alluding to its features.

Are plant communities dominatedby small trees that lose theirleaves during the dry season. Theyare typical of warm climates withlittle rain. They have a uniquediversity with many endemicspecies. They are located in fragileareas and climatic conditionsfavoring desertification.

Biotic factors are living thingsin an ecosystem to survive, those with life.

Primary Producers

Are the organisms in an ecosystem that produce biomass from inorganic compounds (autotrophs).

Biotic Factors

Cazahuate(Ipomoea)

Coyul(Acromia aculeata)

Soyatl(Brahea dulcis)

Huizache(Acacia constricta)

Bonnet(Mexican Jacaratia)

Primary

Consumers

An organism that gets its energy from producers (plants/autotrophs). It is the first heterotroph on a food chain.

Nine-banded Armadillo (Dasypus novemcinctus)

Northern Tamandua(Tamandua mexicana)

Long-tailed Weasel (Mustela frenata)

Northern Coati (Nasua narica)

Feed on primary consumers.

Secondary

consumers

Pecarí de collar(Pecari tajacu)

Trogón citrino (Trogon citreolus)

Cacique mexicano (Cacicus melanicterus)

Pava cojolita(Penelope purpurascens)

Mexican spiny-tailed iguana (Ctenosaura pectinata)

Beaded lizard (Heloderma horridum)

Tertiary

consumers

It is a carnivore at

the topmost level in a

food chain that feeds

on animals at all

trophic levels.

Ocelot(Leopardus pardalis)

Jaguar (Panthera onca)

American lion(Puma concolor)

Coyote(Canis latrans)

Abiotic

Factors.

Climatic factors.

It grows in dry climate with extreme minimum temperature of 0 ° in the coldest days, but on average range from 20 to 29 ° C. Precipitation varies between 300 and 1,200 mm (1,800 maximum) of rain with 5-8 dry months between December and May. Despite being in a dry climate, the strip of territory it occupies is not as dry as the Great Plains of North.

The abiotic factors

are the non-living

chemical or physical

factor in the

environment.
