Thanks to families, teachers, and staff who came out to support the school at the Fall Festival! It was a great night for all! We hope you had as much fun as we did. All of the proceeds will go to the teachers who participated to help pay for the much needed classroom supplies.

This was our 2nd year to participate in the Yankee Candle fundraiser. We have not received ETA yet, but orders should ship to the school second to third week of November. The school will receive 40% of the $17,778.00 raised. Way to go students of MGES! We couldn't do it with out you! Ms. Gillespie and Ms. Post's class raised the most money winning the pizza party. Mr. Peterson's class came in second winning the ice cream party. The two top sellers were Katie Beard and Brody Birren. Congratulations!

The Holiday House will be open Dec. 9 -Dec. 13. We will need volunteers to assist students with picking out their items. Please contact a member of the PTO or Shirley Picklo if you are able to help out.

Again, thank you for your ongoing support to MGES and to the PTO! If you have any ideas or suggestions feel free to drop them in the PTO box located in the front office.

Common Core Myth vs Fact By: Superintendent Browning

This information was included in an article that appeared in School Matters.

Myth: The goal of Common Core standards... is not simply to improve academic achievement but also to instill federally determined attitudes and mindsets in students including political and religious beliefs," the Florida Stop Common Core Coalition.

Fact: There is nothing in the standards suggesting anything about influencing students? political or religious beliefs. This claim is based on a standard data model created by a private corporation with the intent of helping states organize the data they collect. States can choose which data to collect, and according to the architect of this model, the questioned data is used by parochial and religious schools. Florida does not collect political and religious beliefs information.

Congratulations! The following students were recognized at the Octobers Student Recognition Program: Dominic Alfonsi; Elizabeth Allen; Isiah Brown; Ana Burnell; Giancarlo Castro; Justin Cruse; Alex Cruzado-Rolon; yoselyn DeLaCruz; Cassandra DeJesus; Erin Duffany; Micheal Edwards; Savannah Fennel; Daniel Florio; Isabella Freeburg; Clair Freeman; Lanyce Fulmore; Logan Greer; Jayden Hankins; Bryce Hernandez; Alexander Hossler; Sophia Johnson; Sydnie Marie Johnson; Dawson Leatham; Jacob Leonard; Kylie McWhorter; Angelina Mitchell; Ava Moody; Craig Moore; Paul Naylor; Walter ‘Fox’ Nichols; Jacob Parks; Ty Paulicelli; Hayden Roberts; Jordin Rose; Lilly Salter; Anthony Scott; Jakeob Thibault and Tristion Velasco. Congratulations and keep up the good work!
