leading provider of safety services. It is based in Esbjerg (Danemark)

with other operating bases in Australia, Brazil, Italy, Norway, United

Kingdom and Venezuela in order to ensure a short term mobilization

which is essential for oil and gas industry.

Maersk H2S Safety Services provides a wide portfolio of products and

services that are connected with the research, the production and

refining, the offshore and onshore maritime industries, the special

safety services for worksites and the high risk activities, hydroelectric

power stations, etc.

Even though Maersk H2S Safety Services run its business worldwide ,

it is successful even when it operates locally through its branches and

subsidiaries.

great deal of attention in all phases of our operations both onshore

and offshore, in our labs and on the rigs. Our motto is :

Safety and Quality management

Within the group, a detailed management system makes our

procedures of high quality. As consequence, our employees are

aware of the safety and the quality of each procedure. Moreover

they are always updated about the latest changes in the procedures

, rules and regulations.

The management system complies with the following rules: ISO

9001:2008, 18001:2007, 14001:2004.

Our equipment maintenance program is part of our management

system. It ensures that both maintenance and assistance of the

equipment are carried out safely and in compliance with all

certification in order to control and maintain the equipment.

Safety Rental equipment

MHSS supplies safety equipment such as SABA (Supplied Air

Breathing Apparatus - work / escape), SCBA (Self Contained

Breathing Apparatus - work/emergency), Escape filtered Mask,

EEBA (Emergency Escape Breathing Apparatus - escape); Sensors

equipment (Portable and fixed)

Personal sensors (portable: multi and mono gas). The maintenance

of the equipment is carried out by highly trained personnel and each

time a check or maintenance is performed, a certification is made.

Operational and Office containers

Office containers provide all the material needed to make them as

comfortable as expected.

If necessary, they can be subdivided in sections: office, sleeping

area, bathroom.

Normally, another maintenance and warehouse container is added.

The Off-Shore container is equipped with a cascade-system, with 12

70- liter air-bottles supplying 168.000 liters of breathing air that

can be sufficient for a 4 men crew for 14 hours.

Air compressor Ex, Zone 2 approved, with an automatic switch-off

system via CH4, H2S and Co.

Air analysis during the bottle recharge with automatic switch-off

when the pressure is reached.



Emergency Vehicles

Our Vans and 4x4 pick-ups are equipped with all the safety materials

needed, so that they can be surely considered office-warehouses on

wheels.

Equipped with two 50 liters bottles and three low-pressure retractable

lines with an up-to 25 meters range.

Equipped with an air compressor powered by a petrol engine, which

allows a recharge for the air bottles anywhere.

Equipped with two breathing apparatus vertical holders, to manage

emergences immediately, resuscitators, savers, stretchers, etc. With the

assistance of the multiuse box, the maintenance, the extraordinary one

as well, can be done on the breathing apparatuses.

H2S safety briefing

An instructive video explains all the dangers and risks related to H2S, all

the measures and procedures to be followed in case of emergency. Full

directions are given before entrance and a periodic refreshment is

performed.

Alarm limit switches and instruction safe zones. Wind directions and

windsocks. Fire exits. Breathing apparatus used during alarm states,

cascade systems with umbilical.

Other services given: informing where smoking is forbidden, the use of

mobile phones, personal DPI, portable sensors for gas detection and

medical treatment requested if exposed to H2S.

Gas monitoring

In-line and in-air surveys are carried out according to the timetable or

according to the client’s request. Moreover they are recorded in our

database system. They can be carried out manually through manual

pumps with 240 vials of different types and measurement ranges for

H2S, CO2, SO2 etc, or even by means of mobile or fixed sensors. For

instance, the latter system has got fixed sensors on tanks, connected to

a central server that allows the control and the continuous recording of

data with the possibility to install a sound/light alarm system.

Breathing air cascade system

This system provides breathable air. It is supplied by a series of

cylinders of 50 liters at 200 bar arranged in racks . It is possible to reach

all areas of the site using retractable lines at low pressure that supply

the respiratory equipment. Cylinders are filled by special diesel or

electric compressors.

In May 2011 we installed (at Eni Val D’Agri Oil Centre), about 13

kilometres of air lines in order to allow simultaneous access of about 300

operators in confined spaces such as cisterns, tanks and gas columns.

There were 16 racks of 12 cylinders each, with a capacity of about one

million and nine hundred liters of breathable air. Maersk is the only

company certified by Italcert: “Breathing air supply system for

maintenance in confined and unconfined spaces”.



Supervision and Assistance in confined spaces

When in confined spaces, Maersk operators identify the proper

equipment to be used, the type of product that is part of the

equipment, the methods of washing, the carrying out of

necessary surveys in order to check the presence of gaseous

substances within the equipment thus determining the access of

the operators into the cisterns, tanks or fuel deposits.

Maersk operator checks whether everything complies with the

safety arrangements before entering the confined space. Then

he/she checks whether all safety arrangements are respected

during the entrance into the area. Finally he/she checks whether

the equipment (DPI third category) is used correctly. Moreover,

he/she provides assistance for the recovery of the injured

including the necessary equipment such as special stretchers

(KED type), tripod with winch, oxygen kit etc.

Rescue Team

A Team whose aim is to offer industrial rescue services in

hazardous areas and prevention services in the main issues

concerning safety, by gathering experts with experiences in civil

protection and rescue, who have a familiarity with complex

industrial situations and in the oil&gas.

The experience of this team in Helicopter Alpine rescue,

Mountain rescue, Alpine rescue, Gorge rescue, Underwater

rescue, Helicopter river rescue, Cave Rescue also applies in the

oil&gas and allows to have a team of rescuers can face extreme

situations.

The techniques used for the Cave rescue are valid for a rescue in

a Tank as well, or in underground basins.

The lowering of the stretcher with an injured person can be done

to lower a worker from a column or from a structure that can’t

be accessible with stairs, or in structures with difficult access.

“Gas free” and “Not Dangerous” certificates

In 2012 Maersk H2S Safety Services Italia srl got the certificate

of compliance with BS 8000 rule.

The environmental monitoring activity in confined spaces with

their subsequent certification as “gas free”, suitable for ordinary

and extraordinary maintenance on equipment, silos, cisterns etc.

Such a certificate is essential for the activities connected with

measurement, maintenance, repair, control and inspection that

take place in confined spaces where there are or may develop

toxic, asphyxiating or explosive substances.



Personnel Access control

A complete control is performed to make sure the accessing staff

owns all the needed documentation that complies with the existing

law.

In order to manage the personnel’s accesses and to record accesses

(in – out of the working area), Maersk has created a unique

program that, using badges with bar or magnetic codes, is able to

create a database thanks to which it is possible to check the POB in

real time, working hours, an “incoming” filter only for the authorized

personnel and the opportunity to be controlled via web by who have

the access credentials.

Evolution of the software with PPE control (Optional)

The evolution of the software enables over the Identification of the

staff input/output, the Identification and verification of compliance

of safety equipment (PPE) for each employee using RFID

technology.

Just install the device in the access gates to the site or in specific

areas of work, with prior use of RFID tags on the PPE required and

on the badge, the system enables when passing an worker is able to

detect not only electronically the identity but also the task and the

presence or not of the relative safety equipment required.

It’s available a portable version that performs the same function

(control identity, PPE control and document control). Ideal for

medium or small sites not defined (eg road construction).

Permits to Work (PTW) Management System

The software has been designed for a complete control of all work

phases. The software is a database and enables adding in database

of PTW, lay-out checking of PTW broken down by macro area, lay-

out checking of PTW in expiring time of authorization, excel data

export.

Access to the layout is possible remotely, via Wi-Fi or internet

connection for a better sharing of site activities with various

managers. Will be also possible have a handheld computer (ATEX if

required).



Task Master for ADR loads control:

Taskmaster – ADR control and loads on tankers ( EU- Agreement to

transport Dangerous goods by Road ).

An ADR global program has been developed to make sure of a safe and

precise loading of crude oil;

The program develops a range of reports:

• The whole data of the loaded vehicles • The whole data of the checks and verifications held • Load Tables for any date and density concerning the vehicle. Volume

and temperature. Load sheets are printed for each vehicle.

• Biennial update to conform to the periodic ADR modification

The services offered to the companies include consultancy concerning

safety whenever transporting dangerous materials on road, company

training schemes, management support and other related services.

Access to the system is possible remotely, via Wi-Fi or internet

connection for a better sharing of site activities with various managers.

Will be also possible have a handheld computer (ATEX), can perform the

controls directly in the site or in the parking areas for immediate

control..

Education and Training

When dealing with safety, education and training of the staff have a

basilar role, especially in high-risk situations. Maersk H2S Safety

Services Italia s.r.l. is associated with AIFOS and since January 2012,

the project has merged in an even wider reality, with the support of

Assoil School “Advanced Skills for Service in Oil and Gas Industry school”

which is an association born in January 2011, thanks to “Assomineraria”

–Division services and goods- along with its 16 associated companies.

From May 2013, Maersk H2S Safety Services Italia s.r.l. has become

CFA (Aifos Training Center). Maersk H2S Safety Services Italia s.r.l.

deals with the management and organization of training courses

concerning H2S safety and confined spaces. The theory takes place in

education rooms, while practice will concern lessons on the procedures

to be followed using the breathing safety equipment. As regards H2s, a

track in an experimental mobile corridor can be performed: 3 containers

x20’, two of which used for training and the other one as control unit.

The practice of the confined spaces course include drilling in areas that

simulate the above mentioned procedures in wells and tanks, including

rescuing.





Safety Services and Consultancy

Maersk H2S Safety Services Italia s.r.l. offers consultancy and

support to companies about the legislative duties, processes or

internal organization.

Thanks to a wide choice of services that fit all the needs

concerning companies, HSE experts and professionals will be

assisting them to optimize all processes, either standard or for

emergencies. Consultancy services on safety, environment,

quality.

Support in increasing and maintaining the managing system,

business consulting on safety and health on workplaces.

Risk evaluation (Italian law art. 28 D.lgs. 81/08) and

verification of the related duties, DPI choice, staff training,

transportation (in ADR as well).

Maersk H2S Safety Services Italia s.r.l. supports companies in

complying with safety rules in working areas and to improve all

the procedures concerning safety on work.

Maersk H2S Safety Services Italia s.r.l. offers customers only

qualified staff (RSPP;ASPP;HSE consultants) for consultancy

or the commitment as external Managing director on Safety

and prevention; to train staff on all risks and safety measures;

for direct consultancy on site and/or on customer’s workplace,

company and on site audits concerning safety, complying with

UNI EN ISO 19011; to verify all the required legal aspects,

ADR Consulting Services

Maersk H2S Safety Services Italy Srl provides its customer

highly qualified personnel in order to offer a complete support to

the companies dealing with loading, unloading and transport of

dangerous goods, to Safety Advisers who work in transportation

of dangerous goods according to ADR road safety, Editing and

Updating of the Annual Report, Laboratory Tests, Drafting of

Accident Reporting, Editing and Updating of both Audit

Procedures and ADR procedures Manual, Safety Plan and

Training for High Risk Goods, Development of DdT (Documents

of Transport) for Vehicles, Regulatory Update, Staff Training and

Awareness on ADR matters, Assistance of ADR Consultants

within the companies, Guided Tours + Final Audit, Helpline: we

provide telephone support service.

Consulting Services – Contingency Plan

Before starting with the activities Maersk’s Technicians arrange

the Contingency Plan, especially regarding those activities

related to the possible presence of H2S on the site. Contingency

Plan is arranged by making a preliminary visit to the site,

studying the site plan, planning all the activities that have to be

carried out, etc.

Safety Services in Mining

Maersk H2S Safety Services Italy Srl, according with Legislative

Decree 624/96, provides its customer highly qualified personnel

in order to fill the following positions:

Director Responsible: is the person with proper skills and

experiences who is appointed by Owner/Customer, who is

obliged to comply and make other people comply with current

laws, regulations on workers’ health and safety, and all

requirements of the DSS and / or DSSC.

Sorvegliante: is the person with proper skills and experiences,

appointed by the Responsible of Supervision on workplace in

charge of workers and who is constantly present on workplace.

Committed staff to hold this task will have a highly professional

profile.

H2S Supervisor: is the person with proper skills and experiences,

who has no formal designation by the Owner/Customer and his

duties are mainly related with environmental monitoring,

Supervision and safety checks during the development of

different activities, use, inspection and assembly of gas

monitoring systems, respiratory protection equipment, etc
