5. SPECIALISED COURSES - ATA LEVEL

5.1. Corrosion Prevention Control This course identifies methods of inspection and compliance for the ageing fleet and

Corrosion Control Program established by the Federal Aviation Administration.

FAA mandated corrosion control programs require that all primary structural

elements and other selected structure be examined on a periodic basis to detect

corrosion and repair damage.

The course length, terminology, and content are customised to the customer's

aircraft.

5.2. Engine Borescope Inspection

JT8D-200, JT9D, RB-211, CFM-56 CF6-15, -50, -80 PW2000, PW4000

Powerplants

24 hours

Through lecture, class discussion, and "hands-on" training on live aircraft engines,

this course provides a detailed description of the theory, terminology, types of

equipment, operation, maintenance procedures, equipment and tools as required

for engine borescope and interpretation of inspection findings.

In relationship to JT8D and JUD-200 series engines, this course is designed for

airline quality inspection and training personnel assigned the responsibility of

combustion chamber borescope inspection per Pratt and Whitney Alert Service

Bulletin 5639, and Airworthiness Directive 86-09-02.

ASB 5639 interpretation, combustion chamber description, borescope equipment

familiarisation, inspection techniques, and hands-on engine inspection will be

covered with emphasis on practical skills development.

NOTE

Airworthiness Directive 86-09-02 for JT8D series engines require the student to

perform

borescope inspections on at least two engines in service in order to be considered

qualified to perform borescope inspections under this airworthiness directive.

Each section of the rigging courses is designed to provide training in a procedural

step-by-step instruction, based on the aeroplane manufacturer's maintenance

manuals and other approved rigging manuals.

The sections are presented as a complete package or in any combination desired.

The actual training instruction is given using both lecture and "hands-on" teaching

techniques.

The rigging courses are conducted at customer's facility. Because of the extensive

use of on aeroplane training, the customer should have an aeroplane available for

the student's use, preferably an aeroplane in the "C" or M" check inspection cycle.

The courses listed above are conducted by instructors who hold a valid FAA

Airframe and Powerplant certificate and have not only experience as an instructor

but, have "hands-on" experience in rigging as mechanics and technicians.

5.6. Evacuation Slides - Rafts 24 to 40 hours

This course is designed to provide the customer the training requirements and

qualify the student to inspect, repair and return to service evacuation slides and life

rafts. The course curriculum is accepted by the Federal Aviation Administration. The

instructor is a factory certified evacuation slide technician.

Evacuation Slide and Life Raft Repair courses are designed to provide training in a

procedural step-by-step instructional format based on the manufacturer's

maintenance manuals and other approved testing manuals.

Federal and State OSHA regulations are changing constantly. We provide a unique

consulting service that is geared to airline maintenance operations.
