Mike Tang’s future wants Personal: First of all, I would want to feel relaxed not

worrying about what is happening outside of the United States.

Social Life: I would like to keep in touch with my neighbors wherever I end up living as well as a few close friends from school.

Material Life: I would follow wherever technology leads us. This means I would upgrade to the latest hardware and software available.

Work: I would want to work as an engineer – not just having to do work with an engineer degree. As long as job security and benefits are stable, I am satisfied.

Recreation: Probably limited to relaxing and watching sports teams (if they’re still around).

Political Life: I do not care for politics, but I will keep in touch to observe how it would affect my life.

Nicholas Severino ~ My Life I hope that I have a relaxed state of mind in my future and that I

don't turn into some crazy old man. I want to be someone that people go to for help and guidance. I want to have a family with the person I fall in love with and have

2-4 kids. A goal of mine is to become an engineer in some field, hopefully

aerospace though. I want to maintain a job that pays well so I can give my family

opportunities that I wasn’t given growing up. I want to be involved in my children's lives, a little league coach or

something of that nature just to be their support. I want to have a good group of quality friend that I can call my

‘family.’ I would like to have a Penn State family and have a tradition of

attending this University. I want to give back to the community and be a figure for my

community.

In my life I plan to be either a mechanical or civil engineer.

Friends and family are very important in my life and play a big role in my decisions.

Recreational activities will hopefully be a big part of my life in the future.

I want to have a lot of money and still help with problems in the world.

The most important things I want in my life are:

› Good family and friends I want strong relationships and connections

› Recreation I want to have activities that I enjoy and can

do with others for fun

Overproduction and Waste

The simple fact that Apple Inc. produces a new version of the popular iPhone every year is a prime example of overproduction and waste.

Many customers purchase versions of the phone and then purchase the newer versions as they are released and even though these phones can be recycled many people do not recycle.

Backyard trash burning and landfills are also harmful to our environment.

Backyard trash burning creates pollution and cause smog while landfills are becoming full and eventually there will be no space for the future waste products the world produces.

Pollution The surrounding air contains many

different chemicals that affect the human body in negative ways.

Over 50,000 people die every year from airborne diseases and other dangerous poisons such as ozone nitrogen oxides and sulfur dioxide. These pollutants can also kill plants and trees.

This destruction of the ecosystem has direct affect to animals living in it.

Most air pollution is a result from newly developed technology and large factories that mass produce.

Water Consumption

2.5% of fresh water is found on the Earth, but only less than 1% of fresh water is available for human access

87% of the total water used globally is for agriculture.

Rice takes more water than wheat to grow According to the projected estimates, Asia

will be regarded as having severe water problems as well as countries in Africa.

Fossil Fuel Usage

Global Oil consumption increased by 2.7 million barrels a day in 2010.

The rise supply is not keeping pace with the demand and fell short by 900,000 barrels per day.

A prime example of fossil fuel over use is the 2001 California Electrical Crisis which was caused by a shortage of natural gasses.

Oil remains the worlds leading fuel at 33.6% of he Global Energy Consumption.

The use of natural gases and fossil fuels are leading the world into regression by damaging the environment and placing a timeline on our energy source.

Radiation

Almost all electronic devices we use give off radiation.The most concentrated place where radiation is found is power plants.Radiation kills human cells and alters DNA code. Some results of radiation are cancer and heritable changes such as mutations in eggs and sperm.Some radiation is a result of technology and electrical power, therefore as a society we are charting and unsustainable course with technology.
