Introduction

PRO E or Pro Engineer is software used for designing purpose. It is the

product of the company Parametric Technology Corporation. Pro Engineer

Wildfire is a computer graphics system for modelling various mechanical

designs and for performing related design and manufacturing operations. The

system uses a 3D solid modelling system as the core, and applies the feature-

based, parametric modelling method. In short, Pro/Engineer is a feature-based,

parametric solid modelling system with many extended design and

manufacturing applications. It was the first CAD system entirely based upon

feature-based design and parametric modelling. Today most software

producers have recognized the advantage of this approach and shifted their

product onto this platform.

The basic functionalities of pro engineer are divided into different modes:

Sketch

- Used to sketch the geometry for the model to be designed.

Part

Used to create features of a model.

Assembly

Used to create an assembly design by assembling various parts or features of the model.

Drawing

-Used to generate the drawing of the parts and assemblies created in the part and assembly

mode.

Manufacturing

To make the designing process simple and quick Pro E is divided into above mentioned

modes, which is required to complete the designs.

Extrude command

The extrude option is present in the part mode of pro e. It is used to sweep a sketched

section along a straight trajectory. While using the extrude command the section is to

be drawn in the sketch mode and then the depth of extrusion is defined as per

dimensions, after defining the depth the section is protruded up to the value of depth

defined.

Circular

Circular command is used to make curved surface on the vertices of a two dimensional

entity. It is used to make the corners of the entity in a circular shape.

Explanations of command

Page 5: Micro turbine

This command has features same as fillet command.

Pattern

Pattern command is used in the sketch mode of pro e. it is

present in edit option in the menu bar. Pattern is a versatile tool

which makes designing process very easy and efficient. Pattern

command is used to create multiple copies of the feature with

less effort.

Trim

There are three trim command options. Delete segment, corner,

and divide. The option can be accessed through either the edit

pull-down menu or the trim icon on the sketcher toolbar

Page 6: Micro turbine

Delate segment automatically divides sketched entities at any point of

intersection, thus allowing you to simply delete the unwanted geometry.

Corner requires the selection of two entities. It finds the intersection of two

selected entities and either extends or trim the entities up to the intersection.

Divide will divide any sketch entities at the point of selection for as many

selection as desired
