Coordination of Maternal and Child Health Activities in 10 Selected Counties ( THE RIGHT START).
14th October 2016By
KIROREI KIPROTICHCounty Project Coordinator,
Micronutrient Initiative.
Introduction Kenya has made remarkable progress in improving MNH and
nutrition outcomes during the last decade.
Child mortality has declined by over 20 percent since 2008.
Total fertility rate of less than four percent.
Stunting, has started to decline.
Six out of ten pregnant women now receive skilled care at childbirth and over half get postnatal care.
Introduction However, in Kenya today, there is still high morbidity and
mortality from conditions, which are preventable or treatable.
Access to quality MNCH and nutrition services still remains a challenge across all levels of care.
Geographic, population sub-groups, and economic inequities persist due to supply and demand side barriers.
Thus justification of Right Start Project.
10 Counties covered:
Busia Bungoma Vihiga Kakamega Kisumu Homabay Migori Nyamira Trans Nzoia Nandi
