What is Women in Computing?
Why?
What do we do?
We analyze quantitative and qualitative information that allows us to understand the phenomenon.
We create mechanisms for participation and inclusion of women in our program in Systems & Computing Engineering.
We establish inter-institutional links that allow us to accomplish these actions.

SURVEYS What are the perceptions of high school students regarding Systems & Computing
Engineering?
To answer this question we have made 92 surveys to students from different high-schools,
61 of these surveys were answered by women and the remaining 31 were answered
by men
(High school students in an OpenDay at the Engineering School)
La primera pregunta realizada fue,
cuál es la carrera que desea
estudiar?. En la gráfica se puede
observar las preferencias de los
hombres, donde se puede observar
claramente que la mayoría de los
encuestados desean estudiar una
Ingeniería. Estando en primer lugar
Ingeniería de Sistemas, en un muy
cercado segundo lugar Ingeniería
Electrónica y en tercer lugar
Ingeniería Civil.

En la gráfica se puede observar las
preferencias de los mujeres, aquí
encontramos una mayor variedad de
carreras y donde las carreras de
Ingeniería no son la preferencia. En
primer lugar tenemos Medicina, en
segundo lugar Administración de
empresas y en tercer lugar Ingeniería
Civil.

En la tercera pregunta se debía
seleccionar las opciones que
aplicaban para la oración “Pienso que
estudiar Ingeniería de Sistemas y
Computación”. Los resultados
mostrados son de los hombres, y se
aprecia que la mayoría de los
encuestados piensan que “Ofrece
oportunidades para estar cerca de
los cambios tecnológicos” y “Es un
reto muy interesante que abre
muchas puertas”.

En la gráfica se observan los
resultados de las mujeres, donde los
resultados son, de hecho, similares a
los resultados de los hombres (tienen
una buena percepción de la carrera)
pero con la gran diferencia de que
las encuestadas también piensan que
“Necesita saber muchas matemáticas
y eso no me gusta”, lo que puede ser
un factor importante….
