Large Volume StorageBlueThread's StoragePoint provides aset of capabilities that allow content thatis managed within a MOSS (MicrosoftOffice SharePoint Server 2007) RecordCenter to be stored outside of a SharePointcontent database.

While the metadata associated with thecontent and a placeholder pointing to theexternalized content are stored within theSharePoint content database, the actualcontent BLOB (Binary Large OBject) iswritten to an external data store.

StoragePoint ships with a generic FileSystem adapter that can be used toexternalize content to local drive, networkshare, or domain share. An adapter forEMC® Centera® is also available.

ComplianceIn addition to the obvious databasemanageability benefit, StoragePoint alsoaddresses the regulatory complianceneeds of many organizations, most notablythose within the financial services andhealthcare sectors that operate underregulatory guidelines such as SEC, SOXand HIPPA that require content declaredas a record to be unalterable.

By extending Record Center capabilitiesdelivered within MOSS to allow for theexternalization of content to a WORM-based storage medium, StoragePointprovides a natural solution for achievingthis requirement.
