Problem 2.8: Enter TasksEnter tasks and times for problem 2.8. Be sure to click Project/Project Information to set project starting date.

Setting Time UnitsTo change time units go to File/Options. Click on Schedule tab. Change duration.

Setting CalendarClick Project/Change Working Time. For changing work week, holidays, etc. To add a holiday in Project 2010, click on the appropriate start date. Then type in the name of the holiday in the table at the bottom of the window, the start (e.g. July 4) and finish time (e.g. July 4). Then double click and specify as non-working. If you wish to change working times, use options button at bottom of window.

Resource Use by TaskDouble click on each task. Click Resources tab. Label resource Labor and enter in units used by each task.At same time also enter in predecessors.

Showing the Critical PathClick Format and check the Critical Tasks box. The critical path is AB.

Resource UseTo show resource use click View/Other Views/Resource Graph.

Resource AvailabilityClick Resource/Information (You need to do this while you are in resource use view).In Resource Information window, enter dates resource is available and maximum units available.

Resource Balanced ScheduleTo level resources click Resource/Level Resource. Check the Level Now box.

Resource Balanced ScheduleTo see Gantt Chart click View/Gantt Cart.

Beware of Indicator IconTo remove indicator, double click task with icon. Open the Advanced tab. Set constraint type to “as soon as possible”.
