Chamber Supports Military Because of the role the military operations play in
our area, the Chamber last month signed on to a
letter expressing support for additional Air National
Guard operations at the
Goldwater Air National Guard
Base. The refueling mission at
Goldwater supports military
operations throughout
Arizona and across the
nation.
We also congratulated the
newly appointed Barbara
Bennett, Secretary of the
Airforce, and reminded her of
the military assets in our state/region and their
importance not only to national security but the
business community as well.
With the 56thFighter Wing’s F-35 Joint Strike Fighter

offer support.

2020 Transaction Privilege Tax
License Renewal is Coming The Arizona Department of Revenue (ADOR) will be sending
renewal letters to businesses next month to renew their 2020
Arizona Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT) License. A transaction
privilege tax license is used for collection and remittance of
state, county and city taxes.
Every business licensed with ADOR is
required to renew their Arizona TPT
license, which is due January 1, 2020.
Before renewing, ADOR encourages
businesses to update and verify their
account information to prevent
unnecessary fees and penalties. The
online services portal, AZTaxes.gov,
enables registered businesses to
update their accounts. An e-signature PIN is required to make
changes.
On AZTaxes.gov, taxpayers can do the following:
Change their mailing address on corporate, withholding
and transaction privilege and use tax licenses.
Add, edit and/or close locations for TPT licenses.
Cancel or close an existing TPT license or single location on
a TPT license.
Close an account for withholding or TPT licenses.
Make changes to “Doing Business As” (DBA) name or the
business mailing address.
Add a new reporting jurisdiction, new business code or
business or rental location.
If the business or a location is closed, the license must
be cancelled to avoid the renewal requirement, as well as
applicable fees and penalties.
On October 1, TPT went into effect for out-of-state businesses
without a physical presence in Arizona. They are required to
renew their TPT licenses if they meet thresholds for sales to
customers in Arizona in either the current or prior calendar
year.
Marketplace facilitators: $100,000
Remote Sellers: $150,000
ADOR strongly encourages taxpayers to enroll to file and pay
online via the AZTaxes.gov website for easier renewals and
faster processing. State law requires taxpayers with multiple
business locations to renew their TPT license electronically.
Businesses with any questions or seek more information can
visit www.azdor.gov or contact the Customer Care Call Center
at: (602) 255-3381 or toll-free: (800) 352-4090.
Bring Christmas Home from
Wickenburg Just a short few weeks away from Christmas, it’s time now to
start shopping for those special gifts. Shopping local is more
affordable than you think.
Loss Leaders – box stores run expensive ads featuring loss
leaders to get you in the doors. These products are sold at a
reduced revenue, or loss, in order to attract customers.
Cost of Fuel – if you’re driving 20+ miles to go to a box store
or mall, you’re using about a gallon of gas each way, which
adds between $3.25 + to what you are purchasing.
Local Revenue – If no one shops in our community,
businesses will close. If businesses close, revenue is
lost, our tax base loses, and perhaps a sponsor of
Little League or other activities.
Advice – If you need expertise, our local store
owners can help provide you with information
about their products and services.
Shop Wickenburg, shop local! Here’s
what you just did!
You kept money in the local economy. On average, $0.68 of
every dollar spent at independent businesses is recirculated in
our economy. You helped increase our tax base. When you
support and invest your day-to-day dollar in Wickenburg
businesses mean higher taxes for which improves the public
services from which we all benefit.
You created local jobs. Local businesses are better at creating
higher-paying jobs for local people.
You nurtured our community. We know you, and you know
us! Local businesses are more likely to support local events,
schools, charities and youth groups.
You created more choice. Merchants pick the items to sell
based on what they know you like and want. Local businesses
carry a wider array of unique products.
You took advantage of expertise. You
are friends and neighbors to our
businesses and have a vested interest in
knowing them.
You invested in
entrepreneurship. Creativity and
entrepreneurship are crucial to our
economy. Nurturing local business
ensures a strong community.
You made us a destination. The more interesting and unique
we are as a community, the more we will attract new neighbors,
visitors, and guests – and this benefits everyone.

Food Boxes at Christmas “Wickenburg is an amazing community and each of us
knows how thankful and bless we are to be able to enjoy
our community and its surroundings. The thought of
children in our community not having enough to eat
during the holidays does not sit well with any of us. This
simple act of kindness by providing food for families that
are struggling can be achieved this year where no family in
need is left out.” - Benner-Nawman CEO, Ed Kientz
For several years, local churches and Benner-Nawman
have teamed up with businesses in town to fill food boxes
for families in need to have over Christmas. Last year, 275
boxes were created with the help of Century 21,
Wickenburg Ranch, and The Place Church. However, that
number still falls short of helping all the families in need.
This year, Benner-Nawman will be donating a base of
$8,000 and is asking the community to join in creating
additional boxes.
Empty boxes can be picked up at Benner-Nawman after
the Thanksgiving holiday. Boxes will be assembled on
Tuesday, December 17th at Benner-Nawman, Inc. Fill your
boxes according to the food list (find it at the link below)
and bring them to Benner-Nawman on the 17th. You can
also join them at their location on the 17th to help
assemble boxes.
Further information and the food box shopping list can be
found on our website at wickenburgchamber.com/news.
