Learn about the installation and configuration options available in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0such as installing a new farm, configuring global workflow settings, configuring incoming e-mail,administrative tasks, farm topology and provisioning new web applications.
6. Pre-Lab Setup
In order to save time some of the installation steps have been pre-completed for this lab. The completeinstallation can take up to 2 hours. The steps taken are detailed below to give you an idea of what isrequired to install Windows SharePoint Services 3.0.

Installation Step 1 Getting Started with Windows
SharePoint Services Installation
Begin installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0.
The installation has been streamlined to allow
administrators to more easily install a Windows
SharePoint Services farm. The installation has been
made more flexible, allowing the program file path to
be set as an advanced option.
Login using the following credentials:o Username: administrator
o Password: pass@word1
o Log on to: LITWAREINC
Double click on the Sharepoint_setup.exe executable to begin the installation.
ClickYes when prompted to proceed.
Wait for the Microsoft Software License Terms screen to appear.
Check the I accept the terms of this agreement checkbox, and click on the Continue button.

The Installation Types screen will appear. Click the Advanced button to continue.

(Optional) Change the Data Location tab to change the installation directory for Windows SharePoint
Services.
Click the Install Now button to continue.

When the installation completes, click on the Close button to proceed to the SharePoint Products
and Technologies Configuration Wizard.

Installation Step 2 Using the Microsoft
SharePoint Products and Technologies
Configuration Wizard
This exercise will take you through the initial
configuration of a new SharePoint farm.
Run the configuration wizard. The Welcome screen will appear, click Next to continue.
An information dialog box will appear explaining the services that will be affected by the configuration

In Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, the Central
Administration site has been changed to a SharePoint
site collection. This means that a number of tasks
must be done before an administrator can visit the
Central Administration site. The SharePoint Products
and Technologies Configuration Wizard leads you
through the steps required to initially configure your
Windows SharePoint Services installation.

Select No, I want to create a new server farm and then click Next.

The Configuration Database Settings page will appear. Fill in the page using the following
information and then click Next:
o Database server: moss
o Database name: SharePoint_Configo Username: LITWAREINC\administrator
o Password: pass@word1
Note: In a production environment, creating a different user to manage the SharePoint
database connections is recommended.

The Central Administration Web ApplicationConfiguration page will appear.
(Optional) Check the Specify port numberbox and enter the desired port number.

Exercise 1 Windows SharePoint Services Central Administration
The Home Page
This exercise will highlight the new layout of the Central Administrator site
and the new configuration options that are available.
Administrative Tasks
The Central Administration page in Windows SharePoint Services3.0 is in its own site collection. The site has full Windows SharePointServices functionality. It may house documents in a documentlibrary, or have its own lists, events and RSS feeds.
The Central Administration site has 3 major actions available; the firstpart of this exercise will look at the Home section of the CentralAdministration.
The Home tab contains the Administrative Tasks list; this list ispopulated with the tasks that have to be completed to allow WindowsSharePoint Services 3.0 to be fully functional.
An administrative task consists of a few major components
o Action: This is a link to the administrative action to be taken
o Description: This is a general description of the purpose of
the task
o Associated Service: This is a categorization of the Farm
service associated with this task
Login using the following credentials:
o Username: administrator
o Password: pass@word1
o Log on to: LITWAREINC
Open the Central Administration page. If this is not open from the last
Exercise, you can open it by clicking on the Start Administrative Tools SharePoint 3.0 Central Administration link.
Click on Create SharePoint Sites under AdministratorTasks and theAdministrative Task display form will appear.

Click on Close to return to the Home page.
Farm Topology
The Home tab also contains the Farm Topology which will show a list of allof the servers in the SharePoint farm and a list of the services running onthem.
Click on the server listed in the Farm Topology list. The Services onServerpage appears.
The Services on Serverpage allows you to start and stop services on theservers in the farm from one central location.

Exercise 2 Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Central Administration
The Application Management page
This page contains links to pages that help you configure settings forapplications and components that are installed on the server or server farm.
Provisioning a new Web Application
Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 gives you the option to provision a new
web application from within the Central Administration pages. This allows a
SharePoint administrator to work through the Central Administration pages
without needing to login to the server to make updates.
Click on the Application Management tab in the top navigation
Click on Create or extend Web application. The Create or Extend WebApplication page should appear.
Click on Create a new Web application. The Create New Web
Application page should appear.
Fill in the Create New Web Application form with the following information
o IIS Web Site:
Select Create a new IIS web site
Description: Keep the default value
Port: 80
Host Header: Leave this empty
Path: Keep the default valueo Security Configuration
Authentication Provider: NTLM

o Template selection: Keep the default value
o Primary Site Collection Administrator:

Click OK to create your site collection; the Operation in Progress page willappear for a few moments.
After the operation completes, you will be notified that your top-level site
collection has been created. Click OK to continue.
Configuring Workflow
Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 integrates workflow into the platform. The
following settings allow an administrator to control what types of workflows
are allowed.
The Workflow Settings page allows you to determine if:
User-defined workflows are permitted (Ex: SharePoint Designerno-code workflows)
Users without site access are permitted for workflows
The changes made to these settings are global for the selected webapplication
Click on the Workflow settings link at the bottom of the ApplicationManagement page.
Click Cancel to return to the Application Management page.
Exercise 3 Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Central Administration
Operations page
This page contains links to pages that help you manage your server or serverfarm, such as changing the server farm topology, specifying which servicesare running on each server and changing settings that affect multiple serversor applications.
Configuring the SharePoint administrators group
Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 allows the SharePoint administrator to
define a group of administrators that will have access to the SharePoint Farm
administration. This gives the SharePoint administrator the ability to ensure a
secure environment and prevent all server administrators from having full
privileges to data contained in a SharePoint site.
Click on the Operations tab from the top navigation.
Click on the Update farm administrators group link underSecurity

Configuration. The People and Groups: Farm Administrators pageappears.
The Farm Administrators page shows the current membership of theSharePoint Farm Administrators group. Click New ->Add Users.
The Add Users page will appear.
Enterphyllis in the Users/Groups field and press Enter.
Double click the user result that is returned and choose Phyllis Harris topopulate the Users box with your selection.
Click OK to add this user to the SharePoint administrators group
Click on the Operations tab to return to the Operations page
Incoming e-mail settings
Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 allows e-mail to be sent to SharePoint
sites and stores incoming messages in lists. This allows archiving of
discussion groups as well as giving users a fast and convenient way to share
files in SharePoint sites.
Click on the Incoming e-mail settings link underTopology and Services.The Incoming E-Mail Settings page will appear.

This page allows an administrator to enable or disable incoming e-mail toSharePoint lists. This setting affects the entire farm, adding or removing theability to enable or disable this at a list, site, or site collection level.
In order to enable incoming e-mail on the farm select theYes option in theEnable Incoming E-Mail section.
Click OK to save your configuration change.
Enterhttp://moss/ in the Address field in Internet Explorer and press theEnterkey.
The HOL Install and Config site will appear.
Click on the Announcements link on this page and the Announcementslist view page will appear.
Click on the Settings List Settings and the CustomizeAnnouncements page will appear.

Click on the Incoming e-mail settings link in the Communicationssection. The Incoming E-Mail Settings: Announcements page willappear.
SelectYes in the Allow this list to receive e-mail section and enter
announce in the E-mail address text box. .
Choose Accept e-mail messages from any senderin the E-Mail Securitysection.

Click OK to save these changes.
Click on Start All Programs Outlook Express to open the mailclient.
Ignore the error message about the missing POP3 server.
Expand Local Folders and click on the Drafts folder.
There will be a draft email in the Drafts folder, Double click on this emailand click on the Send button.
Close Outlook Express.
Return to the browser and click on Announcements in the site breadcrumbto return to the Announcements list.
The e-mail may take up to 5 minutes to process. It will be added to theAnnouncements list once complete. While waiting you can see the e-mailqueue in C:\Inetpub\mailroot\Drop. The message has been processedwhen this folder is empty.
Click on Weekly status announcement - notice the text formatting is
maintained.
Conclusion
I. Conclusion
In this lab, you got a brief overview of how to install Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, as well as many of the new Central
Administration site and configuration options.
