CAGLIARI

Cagliari is the capital, the main cultural centre of Sardinia and its most populated with about 160,000 inhabitants. It is located in the middle of the wide Gulf of Angels, on the southern coast of Sardinia. If you walk around the old historical quarters of the city you can easily identify the traces of the civilizations and rulers who, throughout the centuries, arrived in Cagliari.

Numerous open air archaeological sites and unspoiled natural environments allow unusual routes, rich in charm and beauty, between art and nature. Every season Cagliari, thanks to its particularly mild weather, gives the visitor a chance to discover its architecture, archaeology and monuments, its ancient history and an opportunity to observe the influences of the various people who have inhabited Cagliari throughout its history.

Cagliari is “the city of the sun” but above all “the city of the sea” as it has one of the longest and most beautiful beaches of south Sardinia: the Poetto. Buses connect the city centre to the beach offering a frequent service.

From the hills surrounding Cagliari it is possible to admire the multi-coloured sea, which merges with the city to produce a unique panorama. In spring and summer it is possible to enjoy the sea and the beach which are among the most beautiful in the world and to discover a natural environment that is still unspoiled. Cagliari has a lot to offer visitors who want to enjoy the sun, the sea and nature and the opportunity to experience a uniquely rich culture.
