• OperatingconditionforMicrowaveovenwithlowerorhigherwattage,mayleadtoslightvariationsincookingtimes.
• Always ensure the cooker is properly closed before placing into themicrowaveoven.
• Food items that tend to foam, froth and sputtermay clog the safetydevices. Some examples are foods such as apples, cranberries, pearlbarley,oatmealandothercereals,noodles,macaronis,spaghetti,rhubarborsplitpeas.
• Potatoes,vegetables,applesandeggshavetobeprickedtopreventthemfromburstingduetobuildupofsteampressureinside.
• Whencookingdoughyfood,gentlyshakethecookerbeforeopeningthelidtoavoidejectionoffood.
• Donotthickenwhencookingunderpressure.• Movethepressurecookerunderpressurewiththegreatestcare.• TheMicrowaveCookermaygetwarm,duetotransferofheatfromthe
cookedfood,inthecookingprocess.Alwaysusegloves/mittenswhenthecookerishotorwhenthecookeristakenoutaftercooking.
• Neverforceopenthepressurecooker.Donotopenbeforemakingsurethatitsinternalpressurehascompletelydropped(seeUserInstructions).
• Aftercookingmeatwithaskin(e.g.oxtongue),whichmayswellundertheeffectofpressure,donotprickthemeatwhiletheskinisswollen;youmightbescalded.
• ItisbettertokeeptheMicrowavePressurecookerinsidetheMicrowaveOvenforaspecifiedperiodaftertheset/cookingtimeisover,asperthemanufacturer’sinstructions.
• DonotattempttoopentheCookerinsidetheMicrowaveOven.• Avoid striking rim of the body with anything which causes nicks.

USER INSTRUCTIONS1. Beforeyoustartusingthecookerforthefirsttime,checkifalltheparts
areincludedandwashallthepartswithhotsoapywater,rinseanddrythoroughly.Pleasecheckallpartsareincluded.ReadInstructions.
2. Placetheingredientsinthecookerwiththecorrectamountofliquidasbelow.Examinelidtocheckifallsafetysystemsarecleanandinplace.

Note: a) If you overfill, the ingredients may touch the mesh assembly which
may lead to malfunctioning of the safety system. Ensure mesh assembly is firmly pressed in position, and is not clogged.
b) The amount of water that is added for cooking in the Microwave Pressure Cooker is important. If excess water is added for cooking, the pressure cooker is so designed that the gasket may release the excess water inside the Microwave Oven. While this is not dangerous, it still will make a mess inside the Oven.
If the recipe calls for excess water like soups, it is advisable to cook with less water in the Microwave Pressure Cooker and add the water subsequently.
3. Place the gasket in position. Close the lid by aligning the arrows onthe lidopening/closingAidandbodyopening/closingAid, turnthelid clockwiseuntil the lidopening/closingAidcomesabove thebodyopening/closingAid.Ensurethesplashguardispressedfirmlyinposition.
4. While closing the cooker, if you find any resistance, ensure that thegasketispositionedinsidethelidcorrectlyandpresstopofthelidfirmlyholdingopening/closingAidsandrotate theopening/closingAidsclockwisetogether.SeeFigA.
5. Setthecookingtimeasdesired.Whencookingforthefirsttimealwaysunderestimatethecookingtime.Ifthefoodisnotcookedasperyourrequirement,increasethetimeuntilfoodiscookedtoyoursatisfaction.

Addwaterforextracookingtimes,thiswillvaryfrom0.51ouncesto0.68ouncesperminuteofextracookingtime,dependingonpowerratingoftheMicrowaveOven.
6. The Visual Pressure Indicator (VPI) rises when the cooker developspressure.Whenthecookerisfullypressurised,theprimarysafetydevicereleasespressuregently.Thisactionisnormalandallowsexcesssteamtoescape.Youmayalsohearhissingsound,whichisnormal.
7. After theset time isover,and themicrowaveovenbeeps,waitbeforeopeningthemicrowaveovendooraspermanufacturer’sinstructions.
8. Themicrowavepressurecookerbecomeswarmduringcookingduetoheatbeingtransferredfromthefood.Alwaysusepotholder/gloves/mittenstoremovethecookerfromyourmicrowaveoven.SeeFigB.
9. Itissafetoopenthelid,aftertheVPIdrops.DonotattempttoopenthecookeruntilVPIdrops.IfVPIhasnotdroppeddownafter2-3minutes,usedaspoontopresstheVPIdown.IftheVPIpopsupagain,repeattheprocedureafterwaitingformoretime.SeeFigC.
10. TurntheLidanticlockwiseusingtheopening/closingaidsandliftthelidoffthebody.SeeFigD.
11. Checkifthefoodiscookedtoyoursatisfaction.IfnotfollowinstructionsgivenaboveaddingwateraspertheTable.

ThismayvaryslightlydependingonpoweroftheMicrowaveoven.
As the pressure builds up inside the cooker, after an initial emissionofsteamforawhile, theVPIwill liftup indicating thepressurebuildup.Whenthecookerreachesthedesignedpressure,theprimarysafetydevicewillreleasethesteam.ThePrimarysafetydeviceactsasbothanexcesspressurereleasingdeviceandapressurecontrollingdevice.
b. Visual Pressure Indicator (VPI) Cum Secondary Device Your Cooker is equipped with a VPI cum Secondary safety Device.
When Pressure starts building inside the cooker, the Visual PressureIndicatorispushedupandwillriseabovethetopsurfaceofthelid.Thisindicatesthatyourcookerisunderpressure.Similarly,aftercookingisoverthecookeristakenofffromtheMicrowaveoven,theVPIwilldropbelowwhenthepressureinsidethecookerdropsto“zero”,givingyouvisibleindicationthatyoucansafelyopenthecooker.PleaseseeUserInstructions(Point9)onhowtocheckifpressurehasdroppedtozero.

c. Iftheprimarysafetydevicefailstofunctionduetooverloadorblockage,the pressure inside goes above the normal level and the secondarysafety device (integrated in Visual Pressure Indicator) will operate ataround6.401Pounds/sqinchallowingexcesssteamtoescape.IfthisalsogetscloggedtheVisualPressureindicatorispushedoutbyexcesspressureandtheholeisexposedrapidlydiffusingthesteam.Thismaybeaccompaniedbyfoaming/frothingonthenatureofingredients.
d. Gasket Offset Device (G.O.D.)• Thissafetydeviceensuresthatthecookerwillnotbuildpressureifthe
lidisnotproperlyclosed.
• Alwaysmakesure the lid is fullyclosedbeforeusing,byaligning thearrowonthelidopening/closingaidwiththebodyopening/closingAid.
e. Mesh Thisdeviceensurestheprimarysafetydevicedoesnotgetclogged.This
cookerwillnotbuildpressure if theMesh isnotfirmlyfitted into thecooker.

HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR MICROWAVE PRESSURE COOKER
a. Itisimportanttokeepallsafetydevices/mesh,clearandfreefromfooddebris.
b. Washthecookerinwarmsoapywateraftercoolinganddryimmediately.
c. Remove the gasket, splash guard and the mesh and wash the lid asdescribedabove.Replacethegasketeveryyear.
d. Neverusebleachtocleanthecooker.
e. NeverusemetalscrubberorSteelwool.
f. Should food become baked on, soak in soapy water. Cleansing padsmadeespecially forNon-stickfinishesmaybeused. If severestainingoccurs,cleanwithaNon-Abrasivecleaneronly.Washwithsoapywater,rinseanddry.
g. When not in use, clean the cooker with warm soapy water and dryimmediately.Ensureallthepartsarecleanandstoreinclosedcondition,preferablyinsidethemicrowaveoven.
h. Turmericorotherfoodcolourstendtodiscolourplastics.Thisdoesnotinanywayinterferewiththeperformanceofthecooker.
i. When a dishwasher is used for cleaning of theMicrowave PressureCooker, please remove the visual pressure indicator cum secondarysafetydevice.

WHY USE A MICROWAVE PRESSURE COOKER?
Whencookingfoodonthehob,intheovenormicrowave,waterboilsat212°Fandwillstayatthistemperatureduringthecookingprocess.Thisisbecause the lidsofnormalpansallowsteamtoescape. Ifa tightseal isformedthenpressureinsideapanisincreasedandthecontentswillactuallyreachhighertemperaturesandconsequentlycookfoodmuchfaster. The MicrowavePressureCookerisasealedvesselthatdoesnotpermitairor liquids toescapeduringcookinguntil thedesignedinternal pressure is reached, allowing temperatures to rise above 212°F.Duringcooking,thepressurisedsteaminsidekeepsthelidtightlyinplace,preventing accidental removal. Flavours are sealed in by the pressureand shorter cooking times. With less liquid to heat and higher cookingtemperatures,cookingtimesaremuchfasterandenergysavingsarethereforeconsiderable.It’salsopossibletocookseveralfoodstogether,addingthosethat require less time later in the cooking process. A steamer basket isincludedtoallowfoodstobelayeredyetkeptseparate.Youcanevencookasavourydishandsteamapuddingatthesametime!However,theMicrowavePressureCookershouldneverbefilledtomorethan2/3itsheightwithsolidfoodorhalffullwithfoodsthatfoamandfrothegrice,driedbeans,pastaetc.Atablespoonofcookingoilcanbeaddedtominimisefoaming. Asthefoodiscookedatabove212°F,bacteriaandvirusesarekilled,andheat isvery evenlyandquicklydistributedmeaningnohotor cold spots.Unlike conventionalmicrowave cooking, standing time and stirring is notrequired. Inthe MicrowavePressureCooker, it isnotnecessarytoimmersefoodsinwaterasonewoulddowhenboilingonthehob.Onlyenough water (or other cooking liquid) as outlined in the recipes on thefollowingpagesisrequired.Thismeansthatitisahealthywaytocookasvitaminsandmineralsarenotdissolvedsoreadilybythewater. Neverbetemptedtouselessliquidthanindicatedthoughandneveruseoilinplaceofwater.

TIPS AND SUGGESTIONS• Pressure-cookinginamicrowaveisanewanduniquemethodofcooking.
Youwillenjoythespeedofamicrowavewithouttherubberytexturesyoumayassociatewithmicrowavecooking.Thefollowingrecipesweredevelopedusinga900Wmicrowave.Microwavewattagesvarygreatly.Pleasecheckyourwattagepriortouse.Cookingtimeswillneedtobeadjustedslightlydependingonthewattageofyourmicrowave.
• While not essential, searing or browningmeats on the stove top in askilletpriortopressure-cookingaddsflavortoyourdishesthatcan’tbeduplicatedwithspices.It’swellworththeextrastep.
• Somesaucesbenefitfrombeingthickenedafterthecookingprocess inthemicrowaveiscomplete.Thiscanbedonebystirringaslurry(waterandcornstarch)intothehotcookingliquid.Thisisasimpleprocessandwill result inarichersauce thatmoreevenlycoats the food.Combinetwotablespoonsofcoldwaterandtwotablespoonsofcornstarch.Mixwellandaddtothehotcookingliquidsauce.Stiruntilwellincorporated.If the sauce does not thicken right away, put the Cooker back in themicrowaveforthirtysecondstore-heatthesauceandstiragain.
