Issues Low utilization of Food Grains (57%) since last two years. MI reported about the

monotony of menu in MDM. (56.57) children want change in Menu.

Raichur is the worst in terms of quality of food grains (MI).

As per MI - Several schools complained of delay in receiving funds for MDM ranging

between two to six months. Delay in receiving cooking cost especially in Raichur.

In around 74% of the schools (28), funds under MME component have not been

received.(MI)

Huge variation in data entry in Web portal and AWP&B esp. Cooking cost, Food

Grain Utilization and Coverage of Children .

There is no toll free no. for Dist./ block/school anywhere and no grievance redressal

mechanism in the district for MDMs . (MI)

5 days less covered against the approved days.

Children bring their own plates to eat MDM in some schools. Children are let out from

school at 11-30 am to bring plates. (MI)

There is no roster of community members being maintained for supervision of MDM.

Inspection by Akshara Dasoha officials is not noticed. (MI)

In majority of the schools (27) (71%) there is no social audit mechanism.

Micro nutrients – not provided in Raichur in most of the schools

Ksheera Bhagya Yojana- distribution of 150 ml hot milk three days from

State funds to avoid anemia and malnutrition among the children for their

potential growth and balanced diet .

The cooks-cum-helpers of MDM kitchens are provided with aprons, caps

and hand gloves, purchased out of accumulated funds of the school.

School Kitchen gardens are maintained in majority of schools to grow

vegetables for utilizing in MDM.

Handling emergency situations and First aid treatment are been

compulsorily taught to all teachers.

For maintenance of health and hygiene the class, teachers check the

pupils personally for maintaining tidiness.

Use of fire extinguisher, sand and water to extinguish up the ignited fire is

also taught from 5 to 10th standard pupils.

Capacity of leadership, team spirit, patience and endurance and sharing

of responsibility is taught to the pupils.

School level competition for students and cooks in respect of MDM best

practices and Competition for CCHs in respect of preparation of variety of

food items is held regularly.
