• In every district committee headed by C.E.O of Zilha Parishad prescribes and decides variety of menu.
• Weekly menu is displayed at school notice board.
• millet (Jowar) is started as foodgrains in pilot project in Pune district from 26 January 2013. Millet initiative Programme of Agriculture Ministry)
Monitoring
• Last State level Monitoring cum steering Committee meeting held on 16th February 2013. Resolved some important issues and approved the AWP&B 2013-14.
• At directorate level regular monitoring meetings are conducted with district officials.
Some initiatives...
• At many places vegetables are grown in school campus and are used in MDM.
• In some schools dinning table & chairs are provided from public participation.
• Micronutrients are provided with guidance of state health department.
• For cleanliness and hand washing of students liquid soap and phenyl is provided in schools from MME funds.
• Special drive for enrollment checking was conducted under district collector.

Issues For consideration • The demand is that MDM scheme be made applicable
to Night Schools also.• The concept of child opted MDM as well as non opted
is functional. It is necessary to laid down procedure in the context of supreme court order in SLP 196/2001 (PUCL vs UoI & ors)
• Under this scheme beneficiary is covered under type of school (viz G/LB/GA etc). But as per provision of 25% admission of weaker and disadvantaged section under RTE Act 2009, such children should also required to covered in MDM in Pvt. Unaided schools.
• Earlier Kitchen cum store was fixed type before modified norms of plinth area norms. Same way Kitchen devices norms be revised.
