They gather all of their energy and resources together in order to ensure the best for their child. What they often don’t think about until they arrive at the hospital is where they will stay. Many parents expect to stay by the child’s bedside only to realize that this will be uncomfortable, and in some cases, impossible, if the child is being treated in intensive care. Claudia & Alejandro Brolo left their home country of Guatemala to get specialized medical care for their daughter Nina. They are unable to return home until Nina receives heart surgery, but that can’t happen until she recuperates from her pulmonary hypertension. Baby brother Italo is growing up at Ronald McDonald House, and will celebrate his first birthday with the staff and volunteers who have become family. Your support enables us to care for families like the Brolos who need our houses during an incredibly stressful time. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa Bay provides a “home-away-from-home” for these families. Since opening our doors in 1980, as the first Ronald McDonald House in the state of Florida, we have comforted and cared for more than 50,000 families. Room adoptions are available in our St. Petersburg (East, West, Central) and Tampa Houses. Each bedroom adoption is $5,000, and common areas (kitchen, dining, living and recreation rooms, etc.) are $10,000, all for a five-year term.
