WHO?Q. Who is Central Carolina Community
Foundation
A. The Foundation is the Midlands expert on philanthropy. We are a nonprofit
organization that links charitable people and businesses with areas of need in our
community.
WHAT?
Q. What is Midlands Gives?
A. Midlands Gives is a 24-hour online giving event to benefit nonprofits in
the 11 counties served by the Central Carolina Community Foundation.
WHEN?
Q. When is Midlands Gives?
A. Midlands Gives will take place on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, beginning at
12:00:01 am and will end at 11:59:59 pm.
WHERE?
Q. Where is Midlands Gives?
A. Midlands Gives is an online event taking place on the
www.MidlandsGives.org website.
WHY?
Q. Why should my nonprofit organization participate in Midlands
Gives?
A. Midlands Gives is an opportunity for your organization to increase awareness, donors and dollars.
HOW?
Q. How can my nonprofit organization participate in Midlands Gives?
A. If your organization meets the eligibility requirements you can
sign up today at www.MidlandsGives.org.
Eligibility Requirements for Participation:
• Must be a 501(c)3 in good standing
• Must have a profile on GuideStar
• Must have an office located in Calhoun, Clarendon, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lee, Lexington, Newberry, Orangeburg, Richland, Saluda or Sumter counties
Additional Requirements for Participation:
• Must complete Participation Agreement
• Must attend one Midlands Gives Campaign Training Session in March
• Must commit to donor outreach using the steps outlined in the nonprofit resources provided by the Foundation
• Must provide 24-hour staff or volunteer coverage for May 3 event
RESULTS

WHAT IS THE SCHEDULE?• Registration is open until February 29
• SCANPO Training Webinars, Nov – Jan• MG Campaign Training, mid-March• Profile Completion by March 31• Major marketing and outreach in April• Midlands Gives Day – May 3
HOW MUCH CAN YOU RAISE?Average amount raised in 2015 was $3,000
This includes donations, prizes (if awarded), bonus pool money (if awarded), and matching funds (if applicable)

Prizes
A variety of prizes are offered each year to all participating organizations.
Examples from 2015:• Power Hours• Golden Egg• C-Note• Social Media Challenges• 50/50• County• First 100
Prizes are awarded to the nonprofit, not the donor
Bonus Pool
Bonus pools are additional funds offered by the Foundation’s partners for the benefit of organizations in specific geographic regions.
2016 bonus pools already secured:• Chapin: Greater Chapin Community Endowment • Orangeburg-Calhoun: Orangeburg-Calhoun Community
Foundation• Sumter• Kershaw
Bonus pool sponsors determine who is eligible and how the money is distributed.
Matching DollarsParticipating organizations are encouraged to seek matching dollars for Midlands Gives
Suggested matching dollar resources:• Your board• Local businesses• Dedicated donors• Staff
Matching dollars must be received in The Foundation office with instructions on how to apply them no later than April 29.

DONOR ACQUISITION
• Nonprofits will receive contact information for all donors who gave to them on May 3
INCREASED AWARENESS
Collective efforts of the community increases awareness for all participating organizations:
• Media all play• Power of social media• Word of mouth• Dinner table conversations
WHAT DOES IT COST YOU?Central Carolina Community
Foundation underwrites the following:
• KIMBIA – the giving day software• Majority of the SCANPO Training
Webinars• MG Campaign Training• Prizes• Marketing/PR Campaign
Nonprofits are responsible for:
• $25 SCANPO Training Webinar Fee (optional)
• Credit Card Fees (average 3%)• KIMBIA Fee (2.99% per transaction)• Staff time• Promotion costs
The credit card and KIMBIA fees are deducted from the total raised by the nonprofit before the grant check is issued.

Average estimated cost for a nonprofit raising $3,000 from 50 gifts:
• $25 Social Media Training Fee• $90 Credit Card Fees• $14.95 KIMBIA Fee
How does that compare with average Donor Acquisition Costs?
DAC= $ spent on new donor acquisition/ # of new donors acquired
1. Capital Campaign/Major Gifts $ .05 to $ .10 per dollar raised.2. Corporations and Foundations (Grant Writing) $ .20 per dollar raised.3. Direct Mail Renewal $ .20 per dollar raised.4. • Putting your social media strategy to work• Prize/Matching Dollars and how they work• Day of logistics• What The Foundation is doing to promote the event• Engaging your board and volunteers• And MUCH, MUCH more!
At least one person from your organization must attend.
