MIKE ASHEY PRODUCTIONS PRESENTS 1 TAMIYA 1/350 SCALE HMS KING GEORGE V TAPE UP REVIEW The Tamiya 1/350 scale King George V battleship has been around since the 1980’s and considering its age, it is a great kit. The deck detail, especially the numerous small ventilator boxes are well done and the 3 deck sections fit together tightly with the removal of a set of small locator pins on the inside lip of the hull. The superstructure parts fit together well although there is some seam work and voids that will need to be addressed especially on the upper forward superstructure. There are also round mold punch outs on some of the upper superstructure decks and on the sides of some of the smaller parts. There are also mold lines on all the smaller parts that will need to be carefully scrapped off. The raised deck wood detail is very shallow and in some places hard to see. However with that said, if you apply the camouflage pattern, the inconsistent raised wood detail will be hard to pick out. Some of the superstructure sides could also use a little more surface detail. All the guns are well done and overall the ship is fairly accurate is shape and appearance.
