The 6th Ladies World Championship now depends on one game, which Mrs Maja Zelcic (CRO) needs to win against Vlasta Horackova (CZE) to take the title on tie-break. Otherwise Mrs Alessandra Riegler of Italy will be the new champion.

New US CC Champion

Congratulations to Randy Schmidt, from Green Bay, Wisconsin, who has won the 14th US CC Champi-onship. We hope to feature this event later this year in CM.

Postal Olympiad announced

The CC Olympiad XVI Preliminar-ies, probably the last postal Olym-piad, is due to start on May 31 with teams of four players. Olym-piad XVII (probably on the server) has to wait until all qualifiers for Olympiad XV Final are known.

European Championships start

The start-lists for the individual 63rd (email) and 64th European Champ. (postal) Finals were announced at Easter. The next EU team championship (8 boards, server) will start in October.

Plomp wins Bohatirchuk centenary

Michiel Plomp (Netherlands) has won the Fedor Bohatirchuk memo-rial event, organised by Ukraine and Canada. We shall feature this tournament, and the CC career of Bohatirchuk, later this year in CM.
