RUTH

We...we're the ones, we are the Ruth division! And how proud we were! July in Long Lake.... super, terrific and wonderful. Ruth's own fashion show! And what about all those hillbillies that came one Saturday night. They were great! Waking up at 12:00 just to do exercises... crazy. Backwards kickball! A relaxing trip to Round Lake! A tiring trip to get ice cream ! It was worth it. The Fonz says A-A-Ay to a clean bunk! We worked our hardest and got the most camp-a-thon points! Who needs a real TV? We had our own TV night! Everybody has Unbirthdays and so did we! Ruth's Oneg for all of Long Lake. Ruth remembers and wishes all, "Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with you and me...."

Ruth is here ! Ruth is here ! August 1976, what a special time. Magic show in Honesdale. Our senior adult pals - they were the nicest. Hotdogs, dancing and fun. And, who were the counselors for a day?....The campers !! How about 7 times a daycandy trunks ? One night, Martians landed in Ruth. Frisbee relays, parachute games - what fun! Secret pen pals with other countries. What a special evening we had. Did you ever see meals talking ? We did, when Ruth was in Foodland. Bubble gumblowing - WOW!!! We took over Round Lake for a night - Cafe Ruth, how fancy! Body paint, camp-a-thon, Wild West Day! What a great month!! Ruth, we have spirit, spunk and laughter....Wooo!!

Sol-o-mon division assemble! Admiral coming aboard, familiar cries in a strange accent! But it seemed to work, even if many of you did imitate Dave! Who did get the most Snoopy signs? I bet you guys are still wet after all the rain we had. However, we did have a great month. We played some great indoor games: Blind Pirate, Whacko, On The River-On The Bank, to name a few. Not to forget the great hikes to D.J.'s for that delicious icecream...... slurp! We had some great programs during July. Remember Indian, Super Heroand Hobo Nights. Don't forget Animal Night and that game called Animal Farm using the peanuts. Happiness was the theme of our summer, and happy we were. We all look forward to many more.

;

Oggy, Oggy, Oggy,...Oy, Oy, Oy,---Oggy...Oy...Oggy...Oy...boy did we make some noiseyelling that! Something very strange happened in August....we saw the sun! It wasthen we decided to go on a divisional overnight - it was fantastic! We dammed up the stream, played on the rope swing and went on an animal hunt. Not forgetting how well we ate!!! Early on in the month we went to see a magic show in Honesdale. Late in the month we went to Prompton Reservoir, a nice relaxing day playing on the beach and swimming. Then there was Wild West Day - that was fun - the casino, saloon and the food! It was a great summer, and it was thanks to everyone in the above picture. See you next summer!

July had a bicentennial flavor. Our bunks were named after famous Jewish heroes and our first major divisional centered around the War of Independence. On July Uth, we had a parade, released helium-filled balloons, and watched fireworks. We camped out, we roller skated, and we hiked. We hiked up Sugar Loaf Mountain, visited the fish hatchery, and collected punks at Lake Belmont. We participated in the all-camp program on Israeli Day. We built booths and played games at the 1776 Carnival. We played baseball, newcomb, floor hockey and soccer. We also had a divisional Maccabiah. We even played some games at midnight. We have many nice memories from July, but the nicest memories are the friends we made and the nice times we had together.

Wild West Day with real Indians, a saloon, casino, and a covered wagon ride was great fun. Campers also participated with tremendous enthusiasm in Navy Day where campers saw the largest bonfire of their lives. During English Pub Night, campers were able to see and enjoy activities which many of their British counselors enjoy at real English Pubs. Other activities included Fairy Tale Night,Israeli Day, and a visit to an amusement park to round out the month. Another great month to add to a fantastic summer for Moses Division.

NAH-JEE-WAH served children from 10 to 12 years of age through the use of seven divisions. It's program, while helping some children to meet the challenge of being away from home for the first time, was largely occupied with meeting the needs for learning new skills in an outdoor environment, for athletics and water sports, joy in group living and new adventures.

July was a great month in Abigail despite the disappointing weather. Our first overnight had an exciting, early ending. We slept out on the lawn for our second one. Our trip to Ghost Town was terrific. Riding the roller coaster fifteen times was a high point of that trip. Halloween came early to Abigail. We celebrated by dunking for oranges and walking through the haunted house. Our prom Night was great, with half of us dressed as boys. We'll always remember our backwards and A - Z scavenger hunts, and our divisional cookout (where the dessert was the best part!) Not to be forgotten is the Abi girls favorite pasttime, Jacks, at which Abi girls are number 1.

NAH-JEE-WAH

ABIGAIL

Human Anagrams started the month off right. Even Hurricane Belle didn't put a damper on . the August session in Abigail. The girls still enjoyed two successful overnights and cookouts. Ghost Town was again a fun day. Abigail and Asher took a trip into the future with out of sight costumes and sundaes. Bible stories were told in the form of skits that were both entertaining and a learning experience. Abi girls and Asher boys had achance to act and sing in their presentation of Friday night services and Oneg. Everyone was especially nice to one another when the Pixie Days came around. The Chanuka ended it all on a great note. The summer was an enjoyable one for the Abi girls who are always young at heart.

We loved: our trips to Charlie's gas station/candy store, Ghost Town in the Glen, our divisional cook- out, the very wet and new experience we had on our overnight to TAC Pines, our bunkmates and counselors, our activities and swim, lion hunts, all the rain and the "sunny" bunk days, our evening activities and skits, peanut butter and jelly, cheers, skinny dipping, and the month of July.

Asher is not just seven bunks, tents, trees, and insects. Asher is TO campers, 9 counselors, 1 senior counselor and a division head all working together to get the most out of camp. Our list of activities and projects includes - a raft, a flag pole, bunk signs, bunk shirts, a nature shelter, hikes, fishing - and lots and lots of Friendship - relay races, A-Z Scavenger Hunt, Treasure Hunt, boating races, apache relays, overnights and a special cookout. Two special events stand out - Jewish Holiday Carnival and our Keren Ami Swim-A-Thon. Both events showed how much Asher campers can enjoy remembering their Jewish heritage. July had more than the usual amount of rain, and yet, the Asher boys proved their camp spirit by stream walking, snake and frog catching and even, would you believe, skunk catching.

July in Asher was full of NATURE, ACTIVITIES, FRIENDSHIP AND CARING.

NAH-JEE-WAHAugust

ASHER

Asher, 1976 will be remembered for years to come because Asher campers, with Isaac Nature's expert assistance discovered a new waterfall, now called Asher Falls. In the future, campers will enjoy the fun of stream walking to the beautiful sight of Asher's own waterfall. Asher campers enjoyed all of the specialty shops as well as Nature. And, we thank the activity counselors for making Activity 1 and 2 periods for learning and fun. August, 1976 is over, now it is time to remember the new friends, soccer matches, OD traps, skinny dipping, "Future Night", Carnival, Crazy Day, Indian Night and our Friday Night Oneg Shabbat! It is time also to remember our counselors Kenny, Marc, Martin, Gary, Bill, Marty, and Ethan, including "Tall and Ugly" John, and our D.H. - Dave.

Dan ended July with a warlike stampede that almost sent Dinah division running in all directions! The Dan Tribe Legends which were never completed because of this incredible burst of energy which could only have come from Sampson himself, will remain untold until next year. Only one night before our final divisional the Dan Warriors proved that they could take care of themselves under all conditions and cooked up an Italian feast that would put Leo to shame. Our evenings were spiced up with a couple of co-eds with Naomi and Leah (remember the College Bowl, Greaser Night, and Hillbilly Night) and our sleep was disturbed by the vicious and bloody Cropsy Legend which atlast report was still a mystery....did Judge Cropsy really exist? Special days that were reallyexciting were the All-Camp Olympics (who can forget the closing ceremony with the Star of David blazing eternally), and our trip to Ghost Town in the Glen, which had quite a few stomachs and heads rolling over and acting strangely! In the end, the blazing light of our 20 ft. divisional fires, which burned so brightly that the sun itself was outshone, will remain for a long time, and the pictures painted by the story tellers will stay with us for years to come.

On August 8th, 1976 Dan division stunned the camp with their incredible rendition of "Yesterday." At that very moment, all knew that Dan would once again shine brightly as a division that was on the ball. A week before Crazy Day, the traditions of Death Frisbee had set the division afire and our trip to Ghost Town in the Glen had set the tone for a memorable month. At the end of the month, all three of our teams competed in the memorable events against Asher, Levi and all other divisions during the gymnastic Olympics held the last Saturday of camp. Meanshile, 17 Dan boys trekked out to Stokes State Forest and survived to tell the tale! Bunk projects dominated this month's bunk periods, however, it wasn't all work that kept the Dan boys busy. Quite a few of us were doing a little socializing on the side with friends we had met during the socials with Naomi (Las Vegas Night, our Costume Party) or had "bumped" into during the days. Once again, the Dan boys were in great demand by Leah, Naomi and Dinah. An incredible month, Dan wrapped up Augustwith a memorable shishkabob cookout, and stunned Nah-Jee-Wah with a banner that had no rival...."It's Clobberin' Time!"

NAH-JEE-WAHJuly

The boys of Levi had to slog through a lot of mud in July '76, but there were a lot of good times anyway. Some of the highlights were: the trip to Ghost Townin the Glen, where everyone had pizza, cotton candy, ice cream and bad stomachs, where some mysterious phone calls were made, and where the record number of roller coaster rides for the day was 28. The overnight in TAC Pines, famous for tough burgers and Bermuda Triangle stories. The discovery by Bunk 12 of S.P.U.E. (Space People On Earth). The day we spent at TAC swimming in our birthday suits. The all-star games with Dan and Asher in which Levi emerged undefeated. And the every day good times provided by those inimitable counselors, Jonathan (Big Jon) Aked, Harris (Harry) Horowitz, Steve (The Big Shaver) Lukens, Marc (S.P.U.E.) Wiener, Kevin (Kevin's Conquering Clan) Balter and Marlon (The Magician) Halpern. Here's hoping everyone is back next year.

In August, 1976, the illustrious athletes of Levi division covered themselves in garlands of glory by defeating the unfortunate softball team of CLC's Joseph Division by a score of 9 - U. They went on to defeat Dan division in All - Star softball as well as soccer. August saw the initiation of some special activities and new schedules. Hobby nights, all morning fishing and tetherball marathons were added to the other Nah-Jee-Wah activities Levi had in August. Ghost Town was another hit for the August Levites. And don't forget the Munchies at Charlie's. Here's to Levi '76. See you next year.

The month of July was full of fun and excitement. The campers were kept busy all through the day and into the night. Our division was able to run two canoe trips during the month and was happy to see the campers participate. Our co-ed activities were right up to date. One of our major divisionals consisted of a " Greaser Night ", another was a costume party where the campers enjoyed themselves running around making costumes. Our out of camp trip was a big success. The campers had the opportunity to enjoy a bus ride out of camp to the play, " The Fantastiks ". Miriam and Joseph were very lucky to receive the pleasure of presenting the first Friday night service. Our theme was "Voyage of the Damned". Campers participated freely in this Jewish ritual. Our division was very together. In fact, we were so together that we even had a sister - " pixie sisters ". The girls enjoyed sharing secretly their candy and cookies etc. with their Pixie. The month of July was full of fun and excitement.

"Hands up, shake, shakitee, shake!" Miriam really got up and boogied in August. Our All- Stars really swung on the athletic field. We danced with Joseph at our socials. We even had our own Milford Bandstand and made the fifties come alive again at our Greaser Night swinging with the boys. We canoed down the Delaware, on the monkey swing, and at the mudslide. Miriam enjoyed Ghost Town and had a day of thrills and excitement. At our Solar System Olympics, everybody caught the fever! We all agreed it was a far out day! "Hello Dolly" meant "Hello rhythm, hello talent" for Miriam. We jived in chorus and on the stage crew, too. Whatever we did, under sunny skies or in the rain, Miriam, though the youngest was the best bunch of gals in CLC.

Happiness sure did run in Hadassah this month. To start things off, we had a sing down, played Which and Who, and to introduce the Hadassah girls to the Judah boys, we had a scavenger hunt (no one found a piece of Pete Opper's hair). Other coeds were a 50's night (we all learned how to jitterbug), an Apache Relay, (when we all learned how to french), and a beach party (with A1 and Margo's scrumptious shish- kabob). Our out of camp trip was to the movie, "Murder By Death" and we all gained calories at the Polar Bear. Other highlights were "EST" day, lazy day, a July Lth celebration, No Question day, the Stokes and canoeing trips, and, of course, no month would be complete without that trip to Charlie's. Now you can see why we say Happiness sure ran through Hadassah in July.

August was a busy month for Hadassah campers. Activities included a pixie day, a talent show, a trip to Charlie's, and Mike and Mick's infamous ghost stories. For our Thursday coeds we played the Dating Game, had a costume party where we bobbed for apples and a counselor hunt. Our out of camp trip to Ghost Town was more than fun filled - it was great! After that, we had a lazy day. Boy, did we need to recover from those rides. At the end of the month we had a camp carnival where Hadassah had their great booths, balloon shaving, pyramid cans, and the selling of lollipops. So, all in all, Hadassah had a busy month and a great time.

ESTHER

Esther was "our kind of place" this summer. We all had a lot of fun and made many new friends. Our singing and cheering was heard throughout CLC. We all had a great time at Ghost Town in the Glen, going on the rides until we got sick - and then going on them again. Our canoe trips, the Olympics, and the Bicentennial celebration will also be remembered. All in all, it was a great month and July, 1976 will be remembered as the R-O-W-D-I-E-S-T that ever wasin CLC.

i Although Esther decreased in number in August, our spirit remained alive andstrong. CLC always knew when the Esther girls were around because the Esther song always accompanied us. Our trip to TAC was really good, and we finally beat them in softball. Our other trips were also really good - the trips to Charlie's, to Pinchot Falls, and to Ghost Town in the Glen. All this, along with the activities, trips and special friends, helped make camp a great place to be this summer. I

DEB0RAH

Another July in Deborah has come to pass once again! Co-eds such as Washington Square Night and Greaser Night went over well. As per usual, there were those bunk hoppers, including three at 2:00 A.M., but little did they know that Diane was two steps ahead of them. The canoe trip was a pleasure and a joy, considering it was one of the few not rained on! Fourth of July festivities were great with special activities for all. Ilona's monthly special cocoa with an added attraction of popcorn seemed to hit the spot after cook-out. The out of camp trip, "Murder By Death" and an added trip to the Polar Bear proved to be successful. We finished with our great talent in "Guys and Dolls" and our delicious chicken barbecue. So, see ya bye girls! We love you!!

The month started off once again with Ilona's hot cocoa. Immediately following, l6 girls and 3 counselors experienced and enjoyed a period of learning Jewish customs, dances, etc. at the B ’nai B frith-CLC Conclave at Lake Como. Another event at Como were the Maccabiah Games where six camps competed with one another for three straight days. Our socials were fun, including Caberet Night where Deborah division entertained Simeon division. The canoe trip was the best of the year, especially since it was super weather. "Hello Dolly", the all-camp show was excellent, considering Deborah dominated the cast! Our all-out at 1:00 A.M. with popcorn and sleep out was enjoyed by all. Division Deborah, itfs been a great summer. We love you and indeed we111 miss you. So, SEE YA, BYE!

We started the summer with an indoor campfire and a ghost story. The canoe trips were great and some of us even got to go twice. Pioneering was a popular activity and gave us the opportunity to go on the three day Stokes trip. And who can forget the girls of Miriam? The scavenger hunt, the costume party, greaser night and human bingo! We went to "The Fantastiks" with the Miriam girls and also had a tremendous co-ed cookout. Of course, a highlight was our talented participation in "Damn Yankees". The month of July in Joseph gave us many new experiences. We made new friends and will have fond memories of the summer of '76.

In August, 1976, division Joseph played lots of bombardment to cope with the weather, a rainy Prom Night, Dating Game, and All American Bandstand and Greaser Night. We had a treasure hunt on the lake, and a counselor hunt. Colleges of America and Great Britain were represented at our College Bowl. Everyone enjoyed the Joseph - Miriam Olympics as Mercury nipped Neptune by a single point. The trip we took to Ghost Townin the Glen provided a good time for all....even those who went on one ride too many.Despite the weather, we did a lot in Joseph '76 and we all have a lot to look back on.

REUBEN

REUBEN RULES! O.K.!

July in Reuben went by very fast. But we remember some things that were special. The Greaser Night with spin-the counselor, Human Bingo, the Jewish Hall Of Fame Oneg, the TAC-Reuben All-Star Game, and our trips to Ghost Town and Pinchot Falls. Most of all, we should remember the blink mates and friends as well as the counselors with whom we shared, played and learned from.

CEDARLAKEAugust

Reuben continued through August with the same zest that had been formulated in July. This can be partly attributed to the transfer of the longstanding partnership of division head and senior counselor from NJW to CLC and to the understanding and willingness of our counselors to place the well being of their campers before all else. This was portrayed in the successful trips to Ghost Town in the Glen and the improvised visit to Milford Beach. Athletically, August was a slightly more fruitful month than July, with victories by both campers and counselors over their respective Simeon softball team. Under the watchful eyes of our two semi-professional soccer players, we played two games, with the honors being split. While at TAC this month, our softball team battled very courageously against a much older and more experienced TAC team only to be narrowly defeated in the final innings. Reuben’s Watermelon League was participated in with the same enthusiasm in August as it had been started with in July; with ENJOYMENT experienced by all competitors. August can be summed up by saying that the Reuben boys are irresistable!!!

Simeon sailed through July (there certainly was enough water for sailing). Simeon All-Stars learned about winning and losing as we faced Reuben and TAC, respectively. Our Watermelon League teams all performed well. Simeon lead the field with Doc, Larry, Andy, Michael, and Steven all having major rolls in "Guys And Dolls". With Deborah, we took in "Murder By Death" and stopped off for ice cream at the Polar Bear. With Diane leading the way, our chicken barbecue and campfire was a smashing success. To sum up July, we can say that Simeon was shining even though little else was.

Simeon in August got off to a good start. Sixteen Simeon campers attended a very rewarding Conclave with B'nai B'rith. As usual, we had a large following in Steve and Shelley's production of "Hello Dolly". Maccabiah, Upper Camp Olympics, carnival, and our all day trip to Ghost Town in the Glen "were all sunshining successes". We had a number of inter-division all-star games, in basketball, softball, and soccer. Our beef stew was delicious and the best part of those wonderful Deborah girls of August.

The 1976 Teen Campers will always remember and cherish this very special summer, a summer in which they truly left their mark. Responsible for innovative and exciting changes,Teen Campers evaluated and designed new facilities, initiated new programs and concepts, and consistently made decisions about what and when and how things should be done at their camp. For example, campers completely renovated our Rec Hall, using TAC Fund money to purchase a super juke box, building new tables, i tapestries and stained glass windows, and designing and constructing a new canteen outside the Rec Hall. (Remember the hot dogs and popcorn during our Movie Nights.) The "new" Rec Hall is now the thriving center of TAC. The old canteen, once vacated, was turned into a Camper Office, a fantastic innovation. Even more fantastic is the fact that because of unanimous Town Council encouragement, the camp promised to install washing machines and dryers in TAC during the winter..so Teen Campers immediately renovated the old bike shed and boat house to provide the necessary housing for the new laundry. In the area of community service we expanded our Milford Day Camp concept by starting a new day camp in the town of Matamoras, Pa. Between these two programs, TAC II campers served over 180 children ! The St. Francis Hospital Volunteer Program was also expanded, and our CIT program enabled each TAC I camper to help the specialists and bunk counselors at Main Camp. TAC's programming this summer was highlighted by our gala trip to Washington, D. C. We'll also remember Boston, Hershey Park, and the Amish Country, canoe and bike trips, van trips, water Olympics, our fun packed Keren Ami Carnivals, our moving Tisha B'Av program, the luau, discussions and game nights, talent shows, intra-camp athletic tournaments (remember that girls' softball team!) and last, but not least, our unforgettably exquisite banquets (oh, that eggplant parmigiana). Perhaps, standing as a model of our whole life style this summer, was our August theatrical production, performed for Main Camp. The Musical Revue was initiated, choreographed and directed by campers! This summer was indeed outstanding.
