What in the World is a Pintle? Or Pintle-Mount?

•Used with Mounting Hardware that Mates the Machine Gun to a Vehicle or Tripod•Essentially the Pintle is a Bracket with a Cylindrical Bottom and a Cradle for the Gun on Top•Cylindrical Bottom Fits into Hole in the Tripod, while the Cradle Holds the Gun•Pintle Can Also Be Used to Refer to the Pin or Bolt Usually Inserted into a Gudgeon, which Is Used as Part of a Pivot or Hinge•Machine Guns Usually Mounted on Pintle Mount–Pintle Mount Is Steel Post Connected to the Frame

A pintle is used to transition the machine gun cradle to the machine gun mount (steel pipe).

Both the front-corner (2) and rear (3) machine gun mounts accept the same pintle (1).

German MG-34 Vehicle Mount (International Military Antiques)

These are simple motorcycle mounts used with the MG-34 Light Machine Gun (LMG). They are constructed of heavy

grade steel stepped-post for insertion into the vehicle and are locked in place by a cross bolt. The top of the

mount has a flexible "Y" attachment head to connect to the weapon in place of the bipod. Very simple, but very effective.
