MILLENNIUM MEMO
“The health and safety of our customers is our primary concern…”
You’ve gotten canned messages of “concern” from lots of businesses, all sounding like they were written by the same PR person. Well…in our case, we really mean it. We do cherish all of you and are doing our best to “be here for you.” We’ve closed some amenities, limited access to Park Staff and taken other precautions suggested by the Governor to help keep our employees and Communities safe. Your Park Staff has continued to perform their duties as well as these restrictions allow. Millennium’s corporate folks are working remotely, and we may be delayed in responding to in-quiries on our website. Should you need anything, your Management Team is your best resource. They are just a phone call or email away. We’ve heard stories about residents helping other residents by picking up groceries, doing errands or just being a good friend to a resident in need. If you’re one of those, Kudos to you! For your part, we ask that you continue to maintain your yards, park where you are supposed to, pick up after your pets and do your normal fine job following Park Rules. With your help, we’ll get through this! Meet Devin Pinedo… …the newest member of the SPARC Team. I mentioned this last month but if you didn’t read the April Breeze online, you may have missed this news. Devin will be representing our Northern Cali-fornia parks, with Stacee taking over Southern California. Devin has a strong non-profit background, endless energy and is dedicated to finding what she de-scribes as a “plethora” of opportunities for your Park. She was a communications major, so she knows big words like that. By the way…I want to thank Devin for explaining “plethora” to me. It means “a lot.” New Pickup Line? Heard outside the Clubhouse: “Hey, do you need toilet paper? Then maybe I can be your Prince Charmin!” That’s too cheesy to ever work, isn’t it? Thank you for your patience during this pandemic, welcome Devin…and have a Happy Mother’s Day! George Turk
Manager’s Corner May 2020 Hopefully we are all out and about this month. This has been an ordeal for all of us and something we hope to never experience again. We were able to call most of our residents to make sure they were okay and we were glad to learn that all were safe and staying in. Our Spring Fling was scheduled for May 16
th. Hang on to any donations as it
could be postponed to a later date. Everything is on hold at present and changing daily. We will not be taking any reservations for the hall until things are back to normal – whatever normal is. Hip replacement surgery was postponed and I’m not sure when that will take place. Looking forward to using the pool and hot tub. We miss seeing your smiling faces. Nancy Payne Resident Manager
Normalcy:
In the rush to return to normal,
Take this time to consider
Which parts of normal
Are worth rushing back to.

Message from the President
Hope this finds all well. Spring is here but has not sprung like it should. It’s a tough
time now. I’m writing this on Good Friday, so who knows what it will be like by the time
you read this.
I, with the permission of the Board, have cancelled all activities for May and June. It
takes time to put on events. The Flea Market for June has been cancelled also. Until it is
safe again for us to have more than 10 people gather, we will not be scheduling events or
meetings.
The calendar that I put in the Breeze is blank. Hopefully we will be able to add
something to it. Since we are a target group for the Coronavirus it is best to be safe than
sorry. I miss cooking for you and having a good time at our gatherings.
While the Club House has been closed, we have taken everything out of the kitchen,
right and left storage rooms. I have been going in a couple hours each day and organizing
things (and dumping things we have not used in the last 8 years I have been on the Board).
I am finding all kinds of things that we have been buying for each event that we had al
ready. Hopefully we will have a better idea of what we need for the upcoming events.
Nancy and Kathy have still been working in the office. I can’t believe the amount of
work they have to do to keep the Tropics going. And that is without any of us interfering
with their work. Miguel, Jorge and Juan Carlos are keeping busy around the park. They
have had to fix broken pipes and other emergencies in the Park. I know Louise is keeping
this clean.
We are looking forward to getting back together. Keep checking in at the website
(the-tropics.net) and Facebook (Tropics Residents’ Club). I try to keep you informed of any
thing happening you need to know.
Take care and stay safe.
Richard

Meeting was called to order by President Richard Stoll.
Roll Call was read: President Richard Stoll, Vice-President Ernie Odiamar, Secretary Rick Casados excused, members Carolyn Hoppes, Ruth Churchill, Sorita Camargo, Robert Sanborn, Helena Wee, and Jim Bell.
Treasurer’s report was read and accepted.
Minutes were read and accepted.
Guests: Michael O’Quin, Larry Cornell, Rick Henry
Correspondences: Lita Medrano on March12 reported an accident that took place in the park. As a result, it was decided that parking blocks would be put on the wish list. Feb.18 Tim Welsh, our accountant, notified us that no further reporting to IRS was needed as he has already filed our taxes. A March 2nd notice from Helen Kennedy that the scholarship fund would begin their evaluation of qualified participants. Feb 28th Richard Stoll asked SPARC about Spring Fling or Resource Fair. Answer: on May 16th they plan to have a seminar and Resource fair in the fall. On Feb 8th Richard sent an e-mail to Karen Shrum requesting a meeting to talk about purchasing a new sound system. On March 3 Karen responded to confirm a meeting the following week.
Mardi Gras was a success and did not cost as much as anticipated. A motion was made by Jim Bell and seconded by Robert Sanborn to not take flyers outside of the Tropics to advertise our events.
Irish Pub Night was discussed with a couple of motions made and passed. First motion was for $700 for the London Fish and Chips. The second was for $100 to have the band set up their own sound system and $100 for decorations. Motions made by Carolyn and seconded by Robert and were carried unanimously. Corn beef and Cabbage is also on the menu.
Michael O’Quin spoke on needs for the Mystery Dinner. He wants 3 ushers, people to check the voting ballots. A sign-up list would be placed on the board in the hallway. Menu consisting of salad, potato soup, and turkey tenderloin scallopini, desert of pineapple sunshine cake. A program needs to be made and handed out at the door. There will only be 120 tickets sold for this event.
The topic of an exterminator was brought before the board. It was decided that the exterminator would be brought in on Monday, March 6, 2020. This effectively closed the clubhouse till further notice. The coronavirus was the final straw that caused the closure and shelter in place we are currently experiencing.
The Board would like to add to the wish list: a recommendation to have a set schedule for an Exterminator.
Board Meeting Minutes March 2020
Old Business:
New Business:
The Treasurer, Ruth Churchill, would like the board to approve a computer program Excel 2007 to be used for making future treasurer report. Jim would like QuickBooks and Larry Cornell said he also used QuickBooks when he was treasurer. Larry said he could put Excel on Ruth’s computer.
March Breakfast is the 21st, and Irish Pub Night is the 28th.
The board declined the purchase of a new food processor as the one we use is sufficient.
A list of the students who applied for our scholarship was passed around. The board would like to
give our scholarships to students who have helped at the Tropics. A committee was formed con
sisting of Rick, Helena and Richard. A decision should be made by April 5th.
Meeting adjourned at 8:20 pm.

The meeting was called to order by President Richard Stoll to discuss the closure of the Tropics Residents Club House.
Roll call was read: President Richard Stoll, Vice-President Ernie Odiamar, Secretary Rick Casados, Carolyn Hoppes, Ruth Churchill, Sorita Camargo, Robert Sanborn, Helena Wee, and Jim Bell.
Correspondences: On March 10, Millennium asked the Board to cancel Bingo for two months as they were concerned for the Coronavirus. Richard Stoll replied: Bingo would be shut down.
The office has said the clubhouse would be shut down till Millennium decides otherwise. All events and functions will be cancelled at the clubhouse [ Fall prevention, coffee club, Spectrum, monthly events, etc…].
The clubhouse had all ready been closed as the office and kitchen were being fumigated.
The Health Mobile will still continue its Thursday arrival times: 10 am to 1pm in front of the clubhouse.
It was decided that all parties involved with our events and functions would be notified of the cancellations. The earliest return to normal operations at the Tropics may be the end of April and could be longer.
The B-bug is no longer showing movies and will only be open Monday and Tuesday’s by appointment for those residents needing their taxes prepared.
Meeting adjourned at 7:30 pm.
