Hello parents and carers,

Monday’s pupil-free day was a very productive and busy one for our staff. The

morning was spent on setting ourselves up to be clearer and more accurate about

answering the following two questions:

How well is he / she achieving, compared to the expected level of

achievement for that year level..?

How well is he / she progressing, compared to the expected level of

progress..?

This work involved identifying benchmarks for the various assessments that we

use, as well as identifying expected rates of growth from year to year, all enabling

us to be clearer about where the child is ‘at’ with their learning and how ‘well’ they

are going with their learning.

In the afternoon, staff worked collaboratively with teachers from other schools in

the ‘Nightcliff Education Network’ to discuss and assess student writing. Thank-you

to our School Council for supporting this important Professional Learning day for

our staff.

Student-Led Conferences are happening THIS THURSDAY AND FRIDAY!! I look

forward to seeing you there.

On Monday, September 19, there will be a Special General Meeting for our School

Council, with the specific purpose of ratifying our new School Council constitution -

all in our school community are welcome and encouraged to come along to this

meeting, to hear about the changes from our existing constitution, ask any ques-

tions, etc. This meeting will happen at 6:30pm and will be followed by our normal,

monthly School Council meeting.
