Print Quality TestsThe SGIA test image was printed on the Mimaki™ CJV150-130 us-ing 3M™ Controltac™ Graphic Film IJ180 printed at 720x1440dpi. RGB input profile set to sRGB and CMYK input profile set to WideMimaki using Mimaki’s™ RasterLink 6 RIP. The Render-ing intent was set to Perceptual. An SGIA control print using an Epson 7800 with semi-matte proofing media and validated with Color*Metrix ProofPass software was used for the spectral evalua-tion comparisons -- measurements are taken in the areas that are designated with the circled numbers and compared in the column at the right.

Objective measurements (taken from Mimaki™ CJV150-130)#1 Pantone Spot Colors* ∆EPantone 185C 11.10Pantone 300C 7.09Pantone 512C 9.78Pantone 375C 12.08Pantone 7548C 9.74Pantone 165C 17.18Pantone 102C 8.27Pantone 297C 10.55*All spot colors above were measured from the SGIA test image printed by the Mimaki™ CJ150-130 and using an X-Rite Exact with

the following measurement conditions: D50/2°, CIE ∆E 2000, and M1. The paper was measured before all measurements were taken (see paper values in the section under Gamut and Density).

#2 Neutral Gray DensityCyan density of 0.65; Magenta density of 0.66; and Yellow density of 0.65. Neutral gray was created by mixing 50% Cyan, 40% Magenta, and 40% Yellow. In the density measurements above, a neutral gray would measure CMY at 0.52, if a color above is off by more than 0.02 from the 0.52 you may be able to see a color cast.

Ink UsageThe SGIA test image was printed and the RIP reported a total of 5.94 cc of ink was used.

Mimaki™ CJV150-130 April 2015

Gamut and Density2D Gamut Comparison with Adobe® RGB and Coated GRACol2006 (known industry standards). Mimaki™ CJ150-130 Gamut built by printing the IT8.7-4 CMYK Random test chart on 3M™ Controltac™ IJ180 at 720x1440 dpi using Mimaki’s Raster-Link 6 RIP with the Rendering intent set to Perceptual. The paper white was measured at L*91.43, a*-0.85, b*-2.54. For reference purposes The L* value represents a white value in darkness and lightness. The higher the number, the whiter the paper. The a* value represents almost no cast on the green/red axis, and the b* value of -2.54 indicates a slight blue cast.

The color managed gamut shows how this model printer ships to the end-user with the RIP software and color management settings determined by the manufacturer and described above.

The second gamut image is with color management turned off to show the overall gamut available with this printer.

For density readings, the initial ink limiting chart was measured to test the overall density available before any color management. The density readings are: Cyan 2.41Magenta 2.11Yellow 1.26Black 2.85

Print Speeds for Bi-Directional PrintingThe SGIA test image was run across the width of printer for an im-age size of 50” x 33” or 11.5 f².

Resolution pass/drop size time to print Speed in f²*540x360 dpi (6 pass) 5 min. 57 sec. 116 f²/hour720x720 dpi (10 pass) 10 min. 25 sec. 66 f²/hour720x1440 dpi (24 pass) 24 min. 51 sec. 28 f²/hour*square feet per hour

Visual Evaluation of 6 pt. typeThis image is from a 10x digital microscope. The test results are from an individual printer that has been calibrated as directed by the manufacturer and run by an expert operator. The images are 6 pt. yellow type on a Cyan and Magenta background (Blue), 6 pt. Cyan type on a Magenta and Yellow background (Red), 6 pt. yellow type on a Cyan and Yellow background (Green), and finally a knock-out from Pantone Process black ink.

Print Registration Mark shown CMYK on white background and then the Bas Relief dot structure using the 20x digital microscope.

Print Repeatibility and UniformityA Tucanna Color Wedge RapidCheck® Idealliance® Strip 1.0 was printed across the width of the print area (in this case over 53”) and multiple LAB readings are taken at the right, center, and far left to compute ∆E values across the width of the print area.

The 100% Magenta, 100% Cyan, and 100% Yellow were used for this calculation and the ∆E across the width is shown below. Eight (8) measurements were taken to show any difference across sheet.100% Cyan patch ∆E averaged 0.63100% Magenta patch ∆E averaged 0.86100% Yellow patch ∆E averaged 0.88

Less than 2 is excellent, and until you reach a ∆E of 4 it’s not likely you would see a color shift.

Digital Equipment Evaluation Reports are produced by the Spe-cialty Graphic Imaging Association in order to provide an objective comparison tool for companies utilizing wide-format digital imaging equipment. Equipment is evaluated in controlled conditions using a qualified operator and a representative of SGIA, who works as an objective observer and recorder of findings.

A special thanks to X-rite for providing the i1 Pro2 Spectrophotom-eter, and the Exact Spectrophotometer for taking the necessary measurements in these evaluations. Also thank you to Tucanna software for their RapidCheck® software and the Tucanna Color Wedge for the Repeatibility test and to Color*Metrix for the use of ProofPass verification software, which was used to validate the Epson 7800 reference print.

If you have questions about this report or any of the data, please e-mail [email protected] and reference Mimaki™ CJV150 in the sub-ject line.
