Caterpillar provides a wide range of off highway trucks
and mining trucks for work in mines, construction and
quarries.
Engineered for demanding work in large dozing
applications, the Cat 844H Wheel Dozer is an ideal match for
power generating utilities, clean up, road maintenance and
production dozing at mines industry. It has a flywheel power
of 627 HP. The 854K Wheel Dozer is the largest in the Cat
Wheel Dozer line and is an ideal match for large mining
operations, power generating utilities, the general
contracting industry and wherever mobility, versatility and
compaction is needed. It has a gross power of 904 HP and
bore of 5.4 in. The 824H Wheel Dozer has a flywheel power

Wheel Loaders
Telcon's high end wheel loaders include the EH 600 and
the ZW 220 Wheel loader. While the EH 600 has a power of
400 HP, the latter has a horse power of 223 PS. The maximum
GMW of the EH 600's backhoe is 56911 kg and the
equipment has a maximum payload of 35900 kg. The ZW 220
wheel loader has an operating weight of 17800 kg and has a

Volvo's wheel loader, L120F's technical specifications are
given below.
Due to the bucket design and the TP-linkage, the bucket
fill factor for Volvo's L120F is often more than 100% when
compared to the SAE volume. The system utilizes variable
displacement piston pumps to circulate oil only when and
where needed. This saves fuel and conserves engine power
for greater penetration when loading the bucket and going
uphill. It also gives faster cycle times in load and carry
operations.
The equipment also comes with more in-cab space, new
dashboard design and operator controls, low internal noise
level and fuel-efficient and low-emission Volvo V-ACT
engine. The engine's high torque at low rpm gives the L120F
outstanding rimpull and low fuel consumption. Volvos
patented lift arm system TP-linkage combines high breakout
torque with very good parallel movement.
JCB's 456ZX wheel loader boasts an air-to-air intercooled
low-emission engine with electronically controlled fuel-
injection system. This delivers high torque at a low engine
RPM, enabling the operator to fill the bucket faster. The 456
is fitted with standard torque proportioning axles that keep
the machine moving even in difficult conditions. Heavy duty
three ram geometry provides high breakout forces with
excellent loading characteristics. The pin, bush and sealing
design on all pivot points provide extended maintenance
intervals.

L&T Komatsu provides a wide range of wheeled loaders
with a bucket capacity greater than 3 cu.meters. These
include the following.
Surface Mining
Surface mining is a niche area and very few companies
have presence in the Indian market. One of them is Wirtgen.
Wirtgen's 2200 SM is a surface miner with mechanically
driven cutting drum for mining coal and useful minerals with
unconfined compressive strengths of up to 50 MPa. It can
optionally be equipped for loading the mined material via a
front-loading conveyor system with slewing and height-
adjustable discharge conveyor or for working in windrowing
mode. The 2500 SM is a surface miner with mechanically
driven cutting drum for the selective mining of minerals with
unconfined compressive strengths of up to 80 MPa. It is
equipped with individually height-adjustable crawler tracks
and a two-stage conveyor system. The 4200 SM is a surface
miner with mechanically driven cutting drum for the
selective mining of coal and iron ore as well as for cutting soft
to medium-hard rock of up to 80 MPa. It is equipped with
individually height-adjustable crawler tracks in two different
designs and a two-stage conveyor system.
L&T Komatsu's range of surface mining equipment
include the KSM223 and KSM304.
Continuous Mining
Sandvik MC-series continuous miners are compact,
exceptionally maneuverable mining machines designed for
high productivity in narrow roadways. Less than 3 m wide
and with a cutting height of 1.3 - 3.6 m, they are capable of
making right angle turns in widths of just 4.2 m. Used in so-
called place change mining situations, they are reliable,
highly productive workhorses and can be supplied with an
onboard operator's station or radio remote control.
Rope Shovels
The BEML 182-M mining shovel is a proven performer
with advanced technical features that enable it to produce
reliably in tough digging conditions. Available with dippers
ranging from 9 to 23 cubic yards (7-18 m3), the 182-M can be
