From the Office of the Bishops The Bishops’ Forum

(Session 1) Nearly five years ago Bishop Bruno, Bishop Talton and Bishop Anderson asked the clergy and congregations of the diocese of Los Angeles to participate in formulating the vision put forth for the future of our Diocese. From this vision came the FACTS goals and the establishment of 33 specific initiatives. Offered by the Bishops of the Diocese of Los Angeles 1. Natural Church Development: A Healthy Church Paradigm (Session 3)

With the growth and marketing paradigm being practiced by many churches, is there ―another way‖ to look at Church and Church development for the 21st Century? This workshop is in-tended to introduce you to the concept of Natural Church Development where church quality is the main concern and quality of ministry can be measured. Interested? Offered by The Rt. Rev. Robert Anderson and The Very Rev. Rand Reasoner, The Rev. Bryan Jones & The Rev. Lili Bush.

30. Grant Writing (Session 2) The process of getting grants for faith organiza-tions is somewhat different from the process of getting grants for traditional nonprofit organiza-tions. This workshop will focus on how to win grants for faith organizations, how to research funding sources, how to prepare proposals and how to position the organization to receive and administer grant funding. Carol Geisbauer served as Executive Director of two nonprofit organizations for 16 years, then as Director of the Orange County nonprofit Resource Center, and most recently, as a freelance grantwriter and trainer for the past 10 years. Now retiring from her grantwriting practice, Carol continues to teach grantwriting workshops all over Southern California. Offered by the Office of Stewardship & Develop-ment

31. How to Start or Grow Your Planned Giving Program

(Session 3) What is a planned giving program? Is your church ready to start one? Are you ready to take your existing program to the next stage and want to learn what others have done? You will get the answers to these questions and many more as Ben Harrington, Missioner for Stewardship and Development shares his valuable experience. Ben works with parishes, missions, schools and institutions throughout our diocese, providing guidance to startups, struggling and successful programs. Offered by the Office of Stewardship & Develop-ment

9. Millennium Goals and Our Kids on YouTube

(Session 2) Wouldn’t it be wonderful if people could see the good things our youth do? What if everyone could see video reports about how youth groups in parishes around the diocese are working on the MDGs and doing the work of the Church? The Program Group on Communica-tions will show how youth groups have created video programs about their work and posted them to YouTube. The Program Group has several video cameras available for loan to youth groups that want to create their videos. To learn how, send a team from your youth group to this workshop. This session is geared for young people (under 30) and their advisors, but all are welcome. Offered by the Program Group on Communica-tions.

32. Getting the Picture—and putting it on the Web

(Session 3) All the churches in the Diocese spend time, money and resources in serving the needs of others. What if we could share our stories of good works with each other and with people out-side the church? What would it look like if we had video stories available on our websites of the good things Episcopalians in Southern Cali-fornia are doing? Would you like to help the di-ocesan Program Group on Communications put these short videos together? We will spend our time together discussing how we can take videos and edit them for publication. Come an join us if you have a video camera or just an interest in telling the stories about the good things we are doing in the diocese. This session is geared for adults, but all are welcome. Offered by the Program Group on Communica-tions

Can you help. . . . . Develop further an open trading and financial system that is rule-

based, predictable and non-discriminatory, includes a commitment to good governance, development and poverty reduction—nationally and internationally.

Address the least developed countries’ special needs. This includes

tariff– and quota–free access for their exports; enhanced debt relief free for heavily indebted poor countries; cancellation of official bilat-eral debt; and more generous official development assistance for countries committed to poverty reduction.
