International Legal Framework
• The Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment and the Coastal Region of the Mediterranean (Barcelona Convention 1976, revised in 1995) with 7 accompanying protocols – Croatia is a party since 1991
• The MAP was the first-ever plan adopted as a Regional Seas Programme under UNEP's umbrella
