He said, “The startups graduating out of NIC Peshawar have delivered on the benchmarks set by their predecessors. The youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has always exhibited passion, motivation and steadfastness in all fields of life and they will continue to do so in the years to come. 5 graduating startups are led by Female Founders which shows a 33% engagement rate for women entrepreneurs from the KPK”. President Dr Arif Alvi has emphasized the need for setting up integrated government database to enhance efficiency of public sector organizations. He stated this while chairing a meeting on Sub- Committee on Emerging Technologies on e-Governance, at Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on 2 nd November, 2020. Highlighting the importance of e-governance, the President said it would facilitate citizens, ease businesses, expand formal economy, boost IT industry and provide transparent, accountable and efficient mechanism for government. PAKISTAN’S FIRST ELECTRIC BIKE SHARING SERVICE LAUNCHED BY MoITT

Roamer Technologies, a NIC Islamabad startup has launched “ezBike”, Pakistan’s first electric bike sharing service powered by Jazz sims for connectivity, to revolutionize transportation in urban areas. Federal Minister for IT & Telecom, Syed Amin Ul Haque graced the launch event of ezBike on 14th October, 2020. This is an app-based service which deploys electric bikes conveniently around the city and makes them available for use by the general public.

IT & ITeS EXPORTS

Information Technology (IT) & IT enabled Services (ITeS) export remittances comprising computer services and call center services have surged to US $648.940 million at a growth rate of 38.16% during July-November of FY 2020-21, in comparison to US $469.713 million during July-November of FY 2019-20. This is the highest growth rate for the FY 2020-21 (July-November), achieved by Pakistan’s IT sector since 2018 when growth rate for the corresponding period was just 13%.

Top ten NIC Program startups showcased their success for students and aspiring entrepreneurs of Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology (SSUET) Karachi on 6th November, 2020. Syed Amin UI Haque Federal Minister for IT & Telecom, Prof. Dr. Vali Uddin Vice Chancellor SSUET and faculty members were also present on the occasion to emphasize the need and importance of entering the unchartered waters of entrepreneurship.

TELECOM FOUNDATION GROUP’S DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION

Federal Minister for IT during his visit to the Telecom Foundation (TF) Headquarters on the 2nd Dec 2020, inaugurated the kick off of the Telecom Foundation Group’s Digital Transformation into a paperless entity. First ever five year strategic master plan of the Foundation that entailed digital transformation, driving the fiber optic networks spread in Pakistan, developing SDGs based smart cities, smart technology parks, green energy and green construction businesses were presented.

Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Amin Ul Haque

has launched Rolling Spectrum Strategy 2020-2023.

A ceremony in this regard was held at the committee room of the Ministry of IT on 24th November, 2020. Federal Secretary Ministry of IT and Telecommunication Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui, Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Major General (R) Amir Azeem Bajwa and Executive Director Frequency Allocation Board

(FAB) were also present on the occasion.

The Rolling Spectrum Strategy provides a future roadmap for spectrum allocation as well as spectrum-related policy reviews that are anticipated to take place between 2020 and 2023. The publication of the spectrum roadmap will help commercial

operators with their network planning investments.

Founded by Pakistan, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia, the DCO is driven by a vision to Realize a Digital Future for All by empowering women, youth and entrepreneurs.
