Involvement of NIRD in POSHAN Abhiyaan
• 3rd National Council held on 14th Nov.2018 and mandated that all elected MPs, MLAs & Elected
representatives of PRIs be made aware about POSHAN Abhiyaan.
• Multi sectoral involvement is very important to prevent and reduce malnutrition.
• NIRD & PR is major stakeholder and their involvement is vital for POSHAN Abhiyaan.
• NIRD being a premier national centre of excellence in rural development and Panchayati Raj can help in
capacity building of:
▪ Rural development functionaries,
▪ Elected representatives of PRIs,
▪ NGOs and
▪ Other stakeholders
• Capacity building on POSHAN Abhiyaan would improve awareness on nutrition aspects.

for PRI & SHGs
• The materials designed by MWCD are flyers, brochures, Posters dialog cards
etc.
• These materials are available in POSHAN Abhiyaan website under IEC advocacy
material link (https://www.icds-wcd.nic.in/nnm/home.htm) .
• Modules specific on nutrition & POSHAN Abhiyaan can be included in the
curriculum and training can be imparted to all the officials. The trained officials
can disseminate information further down to participants of NIRD.
