The Baker County School Board met on Monday, June 2, 2014, at 5:45 p.m. in the Baker County High School Auditorium located at 1 Wildcat Drive, Macclenny, Florida. The purpose of this meeting was to hold a work session on the “Proposed 2015-16 School Calendar” options. The meeting was facilitated by Robin Mobley, Associate Superintendent of Human Resources. The following Board Members were present: Chairperson Patricia C. Weeks, Vice-Chairperson Earl “Dwight” Crews, Charlie M. Burnett, III (Artie), Richard “Dean” Griffis, and Naomi C. Roberson. Superintendent Sherrie Raulerson and School Board Attorney Jonathan Oliff were also both present. No official action was taken by the Board during the work session.

MUSICAL PERFORMANCES (Open to the Public)
Monday, June 2, 2014 – 6:00 p.m. Baker County High School Auditorium (1 Wildcat Drive, Macclenny, Florida)
6:00 p.m. – Mini-Concert by Westside Elementary School’s “Merrie Melodies”
The Westside Elementary School’s “Merrie Melodies” were present and gave a wonderful performance of songs to entertain the audience prior to the Board Meeting. They were lead by their sponsor, Ms. Deborah Fortuna.
6:15 p.m. – Mini-Concert by Baker County High School’s Jazz Band
The Baker County High School’s Jazz Band followed the “Merrie Melodies” serenade of songs with a few musical numbers for the audience. They were lead by their sponsor, Mr. Michael Warren.

The Baker County School Board met on Monday, June 2, 2014, at 6:30 p.m. in the Baker County High School Auditorium located at 1 Wildcat Drive, Macclenny, Florida. The purpose of this meeting was to hold the regular Board meeting and recognize the “Academic Achievers” from the Westside Community in grades 1-5.
Chairperson Weeks asked Baker County High School Assistant Principal Tonya Tarte to give the invocation, which would be followed by the Pledge of Allegiance by Westside Elementary School students, Dillon Juroeschi – 2nd Grade and his sister Alina Juroeschi – 1st Grade. After the Pledge of Allegiance, Chairperson Weeks continued with the items on the agenda.
CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Weeks called the School Board meeting to order and asked for a roll call of members. The following Board Members were present to wit: Chairperson Patricia C. Weeks, Vice-Chairperson Earl “Dwight” Crews, Charlie M. Burnett, III (Artie), Richard “Dean” Griffis, and Naomi C. Roberson. Superintendent Sherrie Raulerson and School Board Attorney Jonathan Oliff were both in attendance.

The Westside Elementary School “Merrie Melodies” serenaded the audience with one more song. Superintendent Raulerson gave each of them a “Paw Pride” drawstring book bag.
Recognize - Baker County School District's 2014 Wellness Challenge Initiative
Superintendent Raulerson (259-0401)
Superintendent Raulerson presented the Team Leaders of the District’s 2014 Wellness Challenge Initiative with a gift card and announced the accomplishments of each cost center. She also announced at the end that the district-wide grant total minutes logged was 322,323 minutes or just at 5372+ hours. Also, the district-wide logged weight loss was 732.2 pounds. The Wellness Team Leaders were: District-Marcelle Richardson, Transportation-Kim Kyer, ESE Bldg. and Maintenance/Facilities-Cheryl McCreary, Keller Intermediate School, Family Service Center and Adult Education – Rachel West, Baker County High School-Laura Raulerson, Baker County Middle School-Lana Bliss, Baker County Pre-K/Kindergarten Center-Lisa Milton, Macclenny Elementary School-Pam Robinson, and Westside Elementary School-Kim Griffis.

Recognize High School Rodeo State Champion Superintendent Raulerson (259-0401
Superintendent Raulerson presented Brandon Callen with a certificate and “Paw Pride” drawstring book bag. Brandon won the High School Rodeo State Championship. Brandon is a two time State champion for header, a State of Florida National qualifier to the National High School finals, and he received a ¾ scholarship to attend Ranger College in Ranger, Texas this school year.
Recognize Winner of Track and Field Superintendent Raulerson (259-0401)
Superintendent Raulerson presented Rashodd Hadley with a certificate and “Paw Pride” drawstring book bag. Rashodd won the State in the Track and Field competition. He threw it 59 feet in the Shotput competition.
Recognize - Baker County Middle School Bobcat Baseball Team Superintendent Raulerson (259-0401)
Superintendent Raulerson presented the coaches and team members with certificates and “Paw Pride” drawstring book bags and announced their accolades during this season. The Baker County Middle School Bobcat Baseball Team won the Florida Star Conference. They also went 10-2 this year. The team members were: Kyler Robinson, Colby Kennedy, Jordan Vanvactor, Hunter Noblitt, Jarren Hodges, Waylon Rhoden, Caleb Mathews, Hunter Wilson, Wade Johnson, Josh Haygood, Zachary Gregory, Caleb Scott, Preston Sutton, Clayton Smith, Myles Morrison, and Tyler Burnsed. Wyatt Rhoden was the team manager. The Coaches were: Matt Turner – Head Coach, Shawn Mahon – Assistant Coach, Kelly Davis – Assistant Coach, and Adam Horne – Assistant Coach. The Athletic Director was Anne Cassidy.

Superintendent Raulerson presented the coaches and team members with certificates and “Paw Pride” drawstring book bags and announced their accolades during this season. They were State qualifiers. Brandon Harvey broke the Baker County High School record for C & J with a 230. Dalton Dyal broke the Baker County High School record in C & J with a 295 and the record for total with a 585. Jacob Stalvey broke the Baker County High School record in C & J in the 169 class with 315 lbs. The Team Members were: Cody Miller, Brandon Harvey, Dalton Dyal, Jacob Stalvey, Thomas Mcelfresh, Blayne Merchant, Kyler McCray, Valdez Jackson, Kaleb Carter, Hunter Chambers, Brody Crews and Elisha Lee. The Team Coaches were: Scott McDonald – Head Coach, Freddie Smith – Assistant Coach, Denzel Mack – Assistant Coach and Henry Reed – Assistant Coach.

Superintendent Raulerson presented the coaches and team members with certificates and “Paw Pride” drawstring book bags and announced their accolades during this season. The Baker County High School Girls’ Softball Team finished with a 23-4 record, won their 4th District Championship in a row, set record for most homeruns in a season of 28, their team GPA was 3.484, Kylie Holton tied her own record in homeruns at 25, Kylie Holton signed a scholarship with College of Central Florida in Ocala, Jennifer Hodges signed a scholarship with St. Petersburg College, and Branda Jarvis is Santa Fe College. The Team Members were: Ashton Holton, Branda Jarvis, Genie Taylor, Payton Parker, Brandi Callaway, Corley Sweat, Hayleigh Mulkey, Jennifer Hodges, Dee Washington, Mackenzie Wingard, Macy Jackson, Kelly Lawler, Kylie Holton, and Madison Kennedy. The Team Coaches were: Franklin Griffis – Head Coach, Kylee Canaday – Assistant Coach, John Holton – Assistant Coach, Ashley Houston – Assistant Coach, and Vanessa Roberts – Assistant Coach.

Superintendent Raulerson presented the coaches and team members with certificates and “Paw Pride” drawstring book bags and announced their accolades during this season. The Baker County High School Majorettes were the 2014 Florida State High School Dance Twirl & Halftime Champions. This is the 6th straight year they have earned this title. The Team Members were: Rachel Long, Sydney Dopson, Jackie Anderson, Karlie Payne, Maegan Gerace, Kate Walker, and Mallory Cain. The Team Coaches were: Patti Sands – Sponsor and Amanda Filosi – Coach.
Recognize “Academic Achievers” from the Glen Community in Grades 1-5

Superintendent Raulerson, School Board Members and the respective Principals congratulated the “Academic Achievers” from the Glen Community in grades 1-5. Each honoree received a certificate, a “Paw Pride” medallion and a “Paw Pride” drawstring book bag.
