“Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than

these…” (John 14:12)

Healing is the topic most often prayed for by Christians. We need to remember that God’s name is Jehovah Rapha, God who heals, so it is in His very nature to heal. It is easy to doubt the power of God when we have never experienced it, but if we truly believe in Jesus, we will see others healed by His power.

“ Erastus stayed in Corinth, and I left Trophies sick in Miletus.” (2 Timothy 4:20)

One of the biggest tensions in the world is the question: “Does God still heal, today?” Our God heals. But, He doesn't heal everyone all the time. Sometimes, we pray, have faith, and healing does not happen. Why is that? Does God care? Yes, He cares! Some people make the gift of healing the most important thing, but focusing solely on healing can cause us to lose sight of the big picture. There are three reasons Jesus didn't perform a miracle.

1. Jesus refused to do miracles to prove Himself.

“The pharisees came and began to question Jesus to test him, They asked Him for a sign from heaven. He sighed deeply and

said, ‘Why does this generation ask for a sign? Truly I tell you, no sign will be given to it.’”

(Mark 8:11-12)

Did you know Satan used this tactic of testing Jesus to try to make Jesus prove He was real? If Jesus has all authority, why does He need to prove anything?

DISCUSSION 1) Read John 14:12. What do you do with Jesus’ statement here?

What do you think He meant by it?

2) When is the last time you asked God for a miracle? What happened? What did you think or feel?

2. Jesus never performed a miracle that interfered with God’s ultimate plan.

“Don’t you realize that I could ask my Father for thousands of angels to protect us, and He would send them instantly? But if I did, how would

the scriptures be fulfilled that describe what must happen now?” (Matthew 26:53-54)

DISCUSSION 1) Have you ever experienced a miracle? What happened?

2) What physical, spiritual, or emotional miracle are you trusting God with?

3. Jesus didn’t do miracles where there was no faith.

“And He did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.” (Matthew 13:58)

“Daughter, your faith has healed you.” (Mark 5:34)

“…Rise and go; your faith has made you well.” (Luke 17:19)

“Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, ‘I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief.”

(Mark 9:24)

Discussion 1) What is the state of your faith? How is it healthy? How can it grow?

2) Pastor said: "our faith should be based on who God is". Describe what you believe about who God is.
