Week 3
Congratulations to our kinder students on a wonderful
first week at school
We’ve been so proud of our 56 new kindergarten
students who have been such brave, curious learners
over the last week. Their buddies have done a
fabulous job in settling them into school and looking
after them so carefully. We’ve noticed great
empathy and care from our stage three students.
Congratulations to our students for a very
settled start to the school year!
We’ve had a settled start to the year and
student are learning well in the classrooms,
getting to know their classmates and teachers.
Congratulations to our students, teachers and
community for such a great preparation for
school in 2020.
Parent-teacher-student learning discussion
and interviews at the end of term. Online
booking system again in 2020!
Our school will be using an easy online system for
parents and carers to book in a session to meet
with their child’s teacher at the end of the term.
Information will come home mid-term about how
to book an opportunity for the three way
interviews. We had good success with the system
in 2019 and anticipate this will be an easy and
effective way to book a session once again. We
look forward to seeing each student and their
parent/carer at our end of term learning
discussions (during week 10 and 11).
Novel Corona Virus
You will have heard the news regarding
Novel Coronavirus on the television, radio, inter-
net or social media. While this news can be up-
setting for many people it is important that we
work together to support those who have been in
the impacted areas. It is also very important that
we don’t assume people who have a Chinese or
other Asian background are linked to the spread
of the Novel Coronavirus. Anti-Asian language
and behaviour, or other form of racism is
unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our
school community.
School environment improvements
Over the holiday period we had some
tree safety work undertaken to ensure that the
playground is a safe space for students. Thanks to
Mr Raz who attended school many times over the
holiday period, in addition to his usual days
to prepare the grounds for the students to return.
Thank you to Mr Crocker and Mr Robinson for their
great job in refreshing the line markings on the
school playground. Our keen handball players
think the new lines have improved their game
immeasurably! No more discrepancies about
whether the ball is in, out or on the line!
We are looking forward to our colourful new play-
ground markings which are due to be installed
later this term. Thanks to our P and C and student
leaders for their great work in planning the play-
ground improvement. We are excited to see our
playground come to life with new markings to
enjoy!
Our friends at Hermidale
Last week we received some fabulous cards and
made contact with our friends at Hermidale. They
so appreciated the donation we made to their
school at the end of the year, to provide financial
support to the students for their excursions in 2020.
They had some great news on their first day back
at school. …they had 17 mm of steady rain! The
students had enormous fun finding an umbrella
(which had been put away for a long time) and
all huddling under it as the rain poured. We think
they might have got just a little bit wet! Our
students were thrilled to receive their cards this
week and we hope to maintain contact
throughout the year. Together we stand with our
friends in Hermidale!
Thank you to the many parents and carers who
have been able to attend the Meet the Teacher
opportunities this week. If you were unable to at-
tend, an information bulletin is available on the
school app. We value your partnership in learn-
ing. Parent/Teacher/Student learning discussions

A visit from Cronulla Sharks
A fun assembly for everyone this week as we
enjoyed a visit from the Cronulla Sharks and
learnt about resilience- the ability to cope
when things go wrong. We were especially
lucky to have a visit from Reefy as well!

school values the support of the P & C and its
partnership with the school. Parents are
welcome to attend the next meeting on
Tuesday 17th March at 7pm in the staffroom.
This will be the Annual General Meeting.
P & C Meeting
What a wonderful community we have here
at MNPS! After a call out for helpers, we had
some fabulous parents and grandparents
assist Mr Raz with a clean up of debris from
the storm. They raked and picked up all the
fallen branches, making the school shine!
Thanks to Luana, Kate, Paul and Col for
helping out. Our playground looks fabulous!
Thank you to our wonderful helpers
Our first Parents as Partners will be held on Friday 21 February.
All welcome!
